Manchester City 0-0 Everton: Tim Howard keeps City off the scoresheet

Manchester City had an opportunity to join Leicester City and Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table as they hosted Everton in a Round 21 match.

Under heavy criticism as of late, Everton and USMNT goalkeeper Tim Howard put in a man of the match performance to earn a 0-0 draw at Manchester City on Wednesday.

Howard has been under a bit of pressure at Everton, but he came up with a massive stop in the 17th minute to keep City off the scoresheet. Bacary Sagna played in a cross to Yaya Toure who powered a header on goal, but Howard got down quickly to his right to make a sprawling save on the City captain.

City controlled most of the play, but Everton nearly took the lead through a great strike from Leon Osman. Romelu Lukaku did well to turn on his defender and play a cross to Osman, who fired a left-footed volley just wide of the top corner. Joe Hart stood motionless, as Osman missed by a few inches.

Tim Howard was called on throughout the second half, with his biggest save coming on Sergio Aguero in the 69th minute. Aguero moved in and looked to slot one in, but Howard stood strong and made a huge stop to keep things level.

City had one more chance deep into stoppage time, as Raheem Sterling looked to be taken down in the box by John Stones in the 93rd minute. It looked like a foul, but no penalty was given as the match ended a 0-0 draw.
