While there’s only one match on the MLS docket Wednesday night, the lone meeting provides a tale of two teams surging up the standings in their respective conferences.

Toronto FC rides a two-match winning streak as the Canadian side hosts Real Salt Lake from BMO Field. Greg Vanney’s group has notched seven goals in their previous two games, while superstar forward Sebastian Giovinco has returned to his brilliant form to lead the charge.

Meanwhile, RSL currently sits fifth in the Western Conference, but with two games in hand the 2009 MLS Cup champions could leap all the way up to second place.

Here’s what we’re watching on Wednesday.

Toronto FC vs. Real Salt Lake

Is there anyone that can stop Giovinco right now? Because it surely doesn’t seem like it. The former Juventus forward has scored four goals and added two assists in Toronto’s last two games, creating a massive challenge defensively for RSL. The Western Conference side will also have to deal with Jozy Altidore, who made his return to the TFC lineup over the weekend with his first goal of the season in a substitute role.

Sunday’s match against the Philadelphia Union showed just how dangerous RSL can be, even when the team is facing adversity. Down 1-0 at the half, Jeff Cassar’s side responded in a big way on the road with a pair of early second-half finishes that gave RSL the come from behind win. Joao Plata’s 48th minute equalizer has put the Ecuadorian in the running for MLS Goal of the Week for Week 21.
