In some ways, it really is a shame that Portland isn’t shin guard-deep in this ongoing playoff race. Because the soccer nation beyond Oregon simply won’t be paying as much attention to matches out of Jeld-Wen Field from now to the end of 2012.
But we did get Saturday – a sun-splashed spectacular from downtown Portland.
The Cascadia Cup remains up for grabs following a 1-1 draw there between the Timbers and Seattle.
Fredy Montero nailed an absolute stunner for the visitors, but Portland’s Rodney Wallace rose to the moment to equalize off a corner kick from Jack Jewsbury, who was excellent in his midfield role.
