Nick Rimando, who finished a rather ridiculous fourth in the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year running, won the Save of the Year with his April 14 stop of a Kei Kamara header. Also in the running was Rimando’s save against the LA Galaxy in March and another one of his against New England in May. Joe Cannon’s save against D.C. United on 3/24 filled out the group. (Why were they all so early in the year?)

If you add the Real Salt Lake netminder’s totals up, he earned 76 percent of the vote. Big congrats to Rimando, who will definitely not drop the trophy when he hoists it up. That would be totally embarrassing if he did.

Oh, and the Seattle Sounders’ Patrick Ianni won Goal of the Year with his gravity-defying volley against Sporting Kansas City. Per the story on MLSSoccer.com, “2012 Goalkeeper of the Year Jimmy Nielsen no chance.”
