There’s terrific news for USMNT and Portland Timbers supporters when it comes to Darlington Nagbe.

The midfielder was the victim of a terrible tackle from the Galaxy’s Nigel de Jong, and was in a wheelchair by the time he left the field on Sunday in Oregon.

But while the injury looked terrible, and De Jong faces big discipline problems, Nagbe has no structural damage in his ankle.

Portland manager Caleb Porter says it’s simply a medial ankle sprain for Nagbe. While the 25-year-0ld won’t play this weekend, his long-term future doesn’t seem at risk.
