  • Chelsea commands 21W-7D-4 record all-time
  • Hull has never won at Chelsea
  • Never

Hull City was formed in 1904, and Chelsea one year later. See above, and understand the task at hand when the struggling Tigers face the challenge of a Chelsea club awakened by last weekend’s loss to Newcastle United (Watch live on NBCSN at 10am ET and online via Live Extra).

Not only has Hull not ever won at Chelsea, but the Blues rarely lose there (at least this year). The London club is unblemished at Stamford Bridge this season.

Although Hull has picked up road points against some very tough teams this year in Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool and, most recently Everton.

And Chelsea is coming off a midweek UEFA Champions League after playing three games in the Premier League last week. Hull, at least, had a bit of a respite.

The Blues will be without injured goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and suspended midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

What they’re saying

Hull City’s James Chester on the task at hand: "“We’ve shown this season that we can compete against the big teams. We’ve got players that will fight for each other and if we are well organised like we were when we went to Liverpool and Arsenal a few weeks ago then you never know what might happen this weekend. I don’t think Newcastle did us any favours by beating Chelsea last weekend and I’m sure they’ll be looking to bounce straight back from that defeat.”

Jose Mourinho not worrying about injuries or suspensions: “‘It’s just our philosophy. Fabregas obviously has been amazing for us and is playing fantastically well but he is suspended tomorrow so we don’t think about him. We trust the other person that will have a chance to play, and Fabregas will be fresh to play against Derby. Courtois had a little problem in training, a little muscular problem and he’s not available for tomorrow. It’s a chance for Petr and a chance for Mark to be on the bench so we’re more than comfortable.”

Prediction

Short and sweet: Chelsea rolls, and it could get ugly. 3-0 Blues.
