Premier League Sunday preview: One last time, with feeling (and drama... and dread)


It’s nearly impossible not to board the cliché train when it comes to the final weekend of the Premier League season, and it’s not right to say, “It all comes down to this” across the board.

But for several teams, that’s the case. Newcastle United and Hull City are hoping to finish in 17th and avoid the drop, while Liverpool, Spurs and Saints are looking to sort out their Europa League destiny.

All 10 matches will be on the NBC family of networks, so be sure to note where your club is featuring come 10 a.m. Sunday.

Chelsea vs. Sunderland -- 10 a.m. ET on NBCSN and Extra Time

The champs will celebrate with a trophy, and the Black Cats might just have their feet off the gas after securing safety earlier this week.

Stoke City vs. Liverpool -- 10 a.m. ET on SyFy and Extra Time

The Reds can clinch fifth with a win, but a loss to the ninth-place Potters would offer an opportunity to Southampton and Tottenham.

Newcastle United vs. West Ham United -- 10 a.m. ET on USA and Extra Time

How can a club as big as Newcastle United be on the verge of relegation for the second time in a decade? West Ham United is keenly aware of the answer to that question, but is safe this go-round.

Manchester City vs. Southampton -- 10 a.m. ET on MSNBC and Extra Time

Tall task for the Saints, but will the Etihad crew be terribly focused with second-place assured?

Leicester City vs. Queens Park Rangers -- 10 a.m. ET on Oxygen and Extra Time

King Power Stadium will be rocking as they celebrate their heroes’ great escape, while QPR licks its wounds en route to the Championship.

Hull City vs. Manchester United -- 10 a.m. ET on NBC and Extra Time

The Tigers need a win and help, and it won’t be easy against a Louis van Gaal side which doesn’t take many matches with anything other than full focus.

Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League

Will Saints, Spurs, or both wind up in Europe?

Everton vs. Tottenham Hotspur -- 10 a.m. ET on CNBC and Extra Time

Two sides that entered the season hoping this match would decide a European slot. The Toffees are out, and Spurs could follow with a loss and the FA Cup final going the way of Aston Villa.

Crystal Palace vs. Swansea City -- 10 a.m. ET on E! and Extra Time

Both are willing to play wide-open football, and Alan Pardew could be pointing to No. 8 Swansea as a model for his club moving forward.

Aston Villa vs. Burnley -- 10 a.m. ET on Esquire and Extra Time

Timmy “Tactics” Sherwood has saved the Villans, while the Clarets are headed back for the Championship under manager Sean Dyche. Will one of these maroon sides finish the season with three points?

Arsenal vs. West Bromwich Albion -- 10 a.m. ET on Bravo and Extra Time

The Gunners threw away second place, but should still hold onto third barring wild results at the KC Stadium and the Emirates.
