Report: Real Madrid want Harry Kane to become next ‘Galactico’

Could it be “Hola, Harry Kane” at the Santiago Bernabeu?

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, Kane is being lined up as part of the next wave of “Galacticos” at Real Madrid with the 22-year-old Englishman seen as the perfect replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The report claims Real have been watching Kane for over a year -- haven’t we all? Kane was the highest-scoring player in the PL in 2015 with 27 goals, after all -- and although they aren’t expected to make a move for him in January, the Spanish giants are keen to keep a close eye on Kane and snap him up in the coming months if possible.

Kane was recently valued at $99 million by the Swiss-based CIES Football Observatory and despite his manager at Spurs, Mauricio Pochettino, repeating multiple times that he isn’t for sale at any price, a bid in excess of $100 million would certainly test Tottenham’s nerve.

Spurs and Real Madrid have a better relationship than most clubs with the north London outfit selling Luka Modric to Real in 2012 for $50 million and then Gareth Bale for a world-record $132 million in 2013.

Is Kane the next “Galactico” as new manager Zinedine Zidane aims to revamp his squad to compete with the might of Barcelona on the domestic and continental scene?

The Tottenham academy product has all the attributes to succeed at the Santiago Bernabeu -- as well as boasting an impressive rate of scoring with 49 goals in 101 games for Spurs he also has an eye for a pass and can drop deep to bring others into play -- but it seems like he’s happy at Spurs for now and is busy spearheading their charge for a top four finish in the Premier League this season.

It is worth contemplating, however, that if Spurs were to one day sell Kane then cashing in and selling him to a Spanish club would make much more sense than a direct rival such as Manchester United. The Red Devils have reportedly shown plenty of interest in Kane during the previous transfer windows but it seems like Spain would be a much likelier destination for the Londoner.
