Swansea’s Bafetimbi Gomis stretchered off the pitch after appearing to collapse

Gomis

Swansea City’ French striker Bafetimbi Gomis was stretchered off the pitch on Wednesday during their game at Tottenham Hotspur.

Following Nacer Chadli’s seventh minute goal to put Spurs ahead, Gomis, 29, fell to the floor under no contact and with nobody around him. Thankfully reports following the game seem to be more positive as Swansea City confirmed that Gomis was able to sit up and talk in hospital after worrying scenes at White Hart Lane played out.

Pictures appeared to show the striker convulsing on the floor, as medical staffs from both teams ran onto the pitch and players looked shocked as Gomis lead there.

After receiving treatment, which included taking oxygen on board, he was then stretchered off the field but appeared to make some movement as the fans inside White Hart Lane were stunned into silence. This incident hit home to those fans, as Fabrice Muamba suffered a heart attack during Bolton’s trip to Tottenham back in 2012.

This is in fact not the first time that Gomis has had an incident such as this, as the former Lyon player fainted during games on numerous occasions before.

Spurs ended up wining the game 3-2 as Swansea put up a valiant fight in Gomis’ absence. More news to come as it arrives, but it appears that Swansea’s striker is on the road to recovery after a scary incident.
