USMNT’s Gooch leaving Sunderland for loan to League One side
Twenty-year-old American striker Lynden Gooch is taking his talents away from the Stadium of Light for a bit.
Gooch, 20, has been on the periphery of Sunderland’s First Team this year, and was the Barclays’ U-21 Player of the Month for August.
But he hasn’t been able to break through to Sam Allardyce’s 18, and will get a chance to shine for a Doncaster Rovers side that needs his help. From DoncasterRoversFC.co.uk:
“I like to play in the number 10 role just behind the main striker, I hope I can bring quality to the team with lots of goals, that’s what my game is.
“I’m really excited at the potential of making my Football League debut on Saturday, I can’t wait.”
The loan is a one-month move, and will see Gooch join a club six points off the promotion playoff pace. Doncaster faces Fleetwood Town, Port Vale, Walsall, Scunthorpe in the next three weeks.
Moves like this can be quite beneficial, and even turn into longer term deals. Across the Northeast, Newcastle United youngster Adam Armstrong is starring on loan for Coventry City.
