Burnley is right to feel aggrieved after Sunday’s 2-2 draw with visiting West Bromwich Albion. Not only did the club blow a third 2-0 lead in four matches, but they should’ve won a late penalty kick on Gareth McAuley’s handball inside the box.

“First half I thought we were excellent. We gave them a little bit of lifeline off the set piece, and we scored two fine goals,” Dyche said. “The only underlying thing that’s out of our control, I thought it was a foul on the second goal on Dave Jones, and how we didn’t have a penalty I’m very surprised.

“Referees tell us not to get inside the person’s mind to understand... I thought it was pretty clear, I’ve gotta be honest.”
