Argentina needs a lift to get back into an automatic World Cup qualifying spot, and it’s no surprise where La Albiceleste found it.

Lionel Messi found the back of the net with a 10th minute free kick to give Argentina an early lead against visiting Colombia on Tuesday.

The Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario saw Messi combine power and precision with an arrow past a flying David Ospina.

Ecuador beat Venezuela earlier to move to 20 points, and a win would put them in fifth at worst, pending Chile’s match with Uruguay.
