Leicester City beat West Ham United 2-1 at Upton Park on Saturday, as the Foxes kept their 100 percent record going. Claudio Ranieri’s side led 2-0 at the break thanks to a first-ever Leicester goal from Japanese striker Shinji Okazaki and yet another from Riyad Mahrez.
West Ham fought back in the second half as Dmitri Payet scored his first goal for the club, but it wasn’t enough to launch a fight back. With the win Leicester is perfect on six points after two games, while the Hammers are on three points after their opening day win over Arsenal.

The Foxes went 1-0 up in the 27th minute as Japanese international Okazaki finished clinically. Jamie Vardy ran down the left flank and clipped in a perfect cross which Okazaki volleyed towards goal and Adrian saved superbly. However, the rebound bounced up in the air and the former Mainz striker nodded home his first goal for Leicester. 1-0.

Soon after Leicester doubled its lead with Vardy and Okazaki involved again. The latter gave the ball to Marc Albrighton and he clipped in a perfect ball to Mahrez who swept home his third goal in two PL games this season. 2-0 to Leicester and West Ham didn’t know what had hit them.

On the stroke of half time the Hammers could have had a penalty kick as Diafra Sakho went around Kasper Schmeichel and went down but referee Anthony Taylor waved away the protests.

The Hammers continued to throw everything at Leicester late in the second half as Slaven Bilic changed the shape, but it was Leicester who had a great chance to score another but Danny Drinkwater blazed over after being played in by Mahrez.

Schmeichel made a superb stop from Sakho late on but the West Ham striker did sent his effort right at Leicester’s goalkeeper, as the home fans urged their team on for a late equalizer. Payet did pull one back after Mark Noble cut the ball across the box and the former Marseille slammed the ball in on his home debut. 2-1.
No equalizer would arrive and late on drama unfolded as West Ham’s goalkeeper Adrian went up for a set piece, but was sent off for trying to volley the ball back into the box with a high foot.
