Cristiano Ronaldo let loose with his words on Tuesday, then let fly with his actions on Wednesday.

While AS Roma proved a game opponent, Ronaldo broke a 0-0 deadlock with a goal from the left wing and Real Madrid earned a 2-0 first leg win in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Ronaldo was booed nearly every time he touched the ball, and Roma was allowed to batter Real by referee Pavel Královec, but the Portuguese superstar broke through after losing his mark and hitting a hard deflected shot past Wojciech Szczesny.

From the BBC:

“Cristiano Ronaldo was great but then again so was everyone. Even those who did not play were important for team morale. I’m happy with Jese’s goal, he deserved it for his efforts. I’m happy and I’ll try to ensure the side keeps on improving.”

Zidane is now unbeaten in seven matches as Madrid boss, with just one draw. He’ll go for eight on Sunday at Malaga. Real now trails Barca by seven points and Atletico Madrid by one in La Liga.
