Saniya Rivers tallied 11 points (4-of-9 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), four rebounds, seven assists, four steals, one block and one three-pointer during Wednesday afternoon’s 93-83 win over the Storm in 34 minutes of play.
The rookie Rivers, like Jacy Sheldon, had most of her production in the second half, fueling the Sun’s comeback as they trailed by as many as 14 points in the first quarter. Rivers scored all of her points and dished out six of her seven total assists in the final two quarters. Rivers scored in transition, using her athleticism to get down the floor quickly. She also slashed to the basket, scoring an and-one on defensive stalwart Gabby Williams. All seven assists were either to Sheldon from three or in transition or to Tina Charles who Rivers found in space or on an advantageous seal in the paint.
