Now, their road to another title is much tougher, as the Lakers will have to make it to the Finals as the seventh seed.
The Suns were 21-11 ATS as home favorites this season, one of the best ATS records in the NBA. Phoenix will really be a tough out for the Lakers. The Lakers were 6-8 ATS as road dogs this season.
In three games between these teams this season, the Suns are 2-1, winning the first two games while the Lakers won the more recent of the three meetings. The Lakers were not at full strength for any of these matchups.
The Suns being an underdog in this series may throw casual bettors off. The Lakers are the defending champs with the superstar players, but the Suns have been a better team than the Lakers all season, and they should show that in Game 1 this afternoon.
