As CFT’s very own John Taylor reported last week, South Carolina defensive tackle Ladi Ajiboye was suspended indefinitely for “team reasons” by head coach Steve Spurrier. At the time Spurrier said, “He’s not participating in football activities and we’ll see how it turns out a week or two from now,” and didn’t specify why Ajiboye was sitting out spring practice.Apparently, it’s because he was busted by narcotics investigators participating in a drug deal.According to The State newspaper, Ajiboye was arrested, booked, and released on February 21 in Columbia on marijuana possession, after “investigators witnessed Ajiboye engage in a ‘hand-to-hand transaction’ with another person.” It turns out that other person was an undercover officer.Whoops.After the transaction, Ajiboye got into a car driven by teammate Terrence Campbell, and was followed by a member of the sheriff’s department until they were pulled over for a failure to signal a turn. Police found “evidence of marijuana use and five grams of pot between the two front seats."Ajiboye started 22 games the past two seasons for the Gamecocks. Campbell, who started 9 games at guard last year, was not arrested in the incident.
