Ryan Weathers was brilliant in a no-decision against the White Sox on Thursday night, racking up eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings of one-run baseball.

The 26-year-old southpaw scattered just three hits and one walk on the evening. The lone tally against him came on a solo blast off the bat of Colson Montgomery in the second inning. Unfortunately, the Yankees were only able to provide one run of support for him. Weathers got 13 whiffs on 88 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 28 percent. Still 2-5 on the season, he’ll bring a 4.13 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and an 89/22 K/BB ratio (80 2/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Tigers in Detroit.

Weathers gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out three. He fell to 3-6 with the loss. Weathers ran into trouble in both of the innings he started, though he wasn’t helped by a throwing error in the second inning by Jose Caballero. The Tigers were able to push five runs across against Weathers with their right-handed heavy lineup, though only two of the runs were earned. He has a 4.08 ERA. Weathers is lined up to face the Twins at home this weekend.

Weathers was able to dance around very, very consistent hard contact to outduel Tarik Skubal here. The Tigers had 10 hard-hit balls in total against him, but many of them turned into outs and whenever Weathers got into trouble, he wriggled his way out of it. His changeup was a big reason for that as his go-to put away pitch against righties and while some of them missed by a lot, the ones that were good were really good. All in all, this was a solid outing and Weathers left it with a 3.95 ERA, 95 strikeouts, and 24 walks through 86 2/3 innings so far this season. Weathers is scheduled to face the Tigers again followed by the Twins in a two-start week with both starts coming at home.

The long ball did Weathers in here. First, Kazuma Okamoto crushed a 423 foot shot in the first inning. Then, George Springer had a two-run homer of his own in the following frame. He settled in a bit after that, but was pulled after walking a batter and then forcing a ground ball. That inherited runner came around immediately after, just to make his final line a tad worse. Uncharacteristically, he forced very few swings-and-misses and left this start with a 4.36 ERA. It was just 3.14 three starts ago before a poor stretch where he’s allowed 16 earned runs over his last 17 innings. Next up, he;s scheduled to face the White Sox at home.

Weathers had a little extra velocity tonight, averaging 96.4 mph with his fastball, but he gave up two homers, seven hits and 11 hard-hit balls in all. He allowed two runs in the third after a potential double play ball resulted in only one out, as Anthony Volpe, probably overly cautiously, didn’t feel comfortable trying to make the initial throw to second with a pulled over Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Ceddanne Rafaela both running towards the bag. The last two runs came on a Willson Contreras homer with two outs in the fifth. Chisholm seemed to have a real shot at handling the single to his left that kept the inning going, but he alligator armed it. Although he obviously deserves a significantly better record, Weathers dropped to 2-4 with a 3.86 ERA. He’ll face the Guardians next.

Weathers fanned 10, but he walked three and gave up three homers in one of the league’s top parks for offense. This leaves him 2-3, even though he has a nice 3.52 ERA and the Yankees are 6-5 in his starts. He’ll take on the Red Sox next time out.

Weathers gave up four hits, walked three and struck out four. The Rays didn’t put up much of a fight against Weathers. The closest Tampa Bay came to scoring was in the third inning when the Rays had back-to-back singles with one out. Weathers then got Junior Caminero to ground into a double play. The Rays didn’t get another runner to second base until Weathers left the game. He lowered his ERA this year to 3.14. Weathers is lined up to face the Athletics on the road next weekend.

Simply put, there was no possible way to get this game in with widespread showers in the forecast throughout the afternoon and evening at Yankee Stadium. It’ll be made up as a doubleheader on September 22. Saturday’s original starting pitchers — Drew Rasmussen and Ryan Weathers — will presumably get the ball on Sunday afternoon instead.

Weathers gave up seven hits, walked none and struck out seven. He remains 2-2 with the no-decision. The 26-year-old left-hander was excellent for the first three innings, even striking out the side in order in the third inning. Weathers ran into trouble in the fourth inning, though. He allowed back-to-back singles to start the inning before Ernie Clement hit a three-run home run with two outs. Weathers would allow one run in each of the next two innings before leaving with one out in the sixth inning. He has a 3.58 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 61 strikeouts in 50 1/3 innings. Weathers will face the Rays at home this weekend.

The Yankees are shuffling the rotation after Max Fried (elbow) was placed on the injured list. Elmer Rodriguez was previously announced to start Sunday’s contest, and Ryan Weathers — who originally was slated to pitch in the game — now will start Tuesday’s game against Toronto. Warren has been solid in 2026 with a 5-1 record and 3.42 ERA.

This is an unfortunate way for the Yankees to solve their rotation crunch, but assuming that Fried is going to spend some on the IL, it allows them to stick with a five-man group and still keep Will Warren and Ryan Weathers after Gerrit Cole is activated. Fried’s last big elbow scare came in 2023, when he missed about half of the season with a forearm strain. He also had a brief absence in 2024 with neuritis in the area.

Blue Jays activated RHP Braydon Fisher from the bereavement list.

The 25-year-old right-hander was away from the team for the first half of the week. He returns to a terrific 3.33 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 46/21 K/BB ratio over 46 innings in 43 appearances out of the Jays’ bullpen. He has also tallied three victories and a save on the year.

Mickey Moniak is in the Rockies’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Giants.

That’s noteworthy, as it’s the second time in four games this week that Moniak has suited up against a southpaw, though he has hit near the bottom of the lineup in both of those games. Still, fantasy managers have to be thrilled to see him starting to see the field against left-handers to go along with the outstanding production that he has provided against right-handers this season.

Max Muncy is absent from the Dodgers’ starting lineup for Friday evening skirmish against the Diamondbacks.

Muncy will take a seat with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez toeing the slab for the Diamondbacks. Tommy Edman will cover third base in his absence while Miguel Rojas starts at second base and will bat eighth for the Dodgers.

Jake Cronenworth is not in the Padres’ starting lineup for Friday evening’s matchup against the Blue Jays.

It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the versatile 32-year-old. Cronenworth had started every other game during the week at either first base or second base. Ty France will start at first base and will bat sixth for the Padres against Blue Jays’ right-hander Shane Bieber.

Jacob deGrom has been scratched from his scheduled start on Sunday due to a mild left glute strain.

The Rangers are considering the possibility of placing deGrom on the injured list, but with the timing of the All-Star break they aren’t sure if it’s necessary or not yet. Either way, it sounds like the 38-year-old right-hander should only wind up missing a start or two. No word yet on who will take his place on the slab for Sunday’s first half finale.

Justin Crawford was a late scratch from the Phillies’ starting lineup on Friday night due to soreness in his left knee.

The issue isn’t believed to be major and the 22-year-old outfielder is considered day-to-day. Derek Hill will start in his place in center field on Friday evening against Jack Flaherty and the Tigers at Comerica Park.

Giants optioned LHP Carson Whisenhunt to Triple-A Sacramento.

Whisenhunt pitched the Giants past the Rockies on Thursday, allowing just two runs on three hits over 5 2/3 innings. If there’s still an opening in the Giants’ rotation after the All-Star break, expect Whisenhunt to get another opportunity to stick around. In the meantime, they’ll utilize that roster spot on an extra bullpen arm for the remainder of their weekend series against the Rockies.

Giants activated RHP Keaton Winn from the 15-day injured list.

Winn missed nearly a month’s worth of action due to a right elbow strain. Before landing on the injured list on June 11, the 28-year-old righty had posted a 3.23 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and a 26/9 K/BB ratio over 30 2/3 innings in his 29 appearances. His return should provide a nice boost to the back end of the Giants’ bullpen.

Giants recalled OF Grant McCray from Triple-A Sacramento.

With Victor Bericoto (oblique) landing on the injured list on Friday, McCray earns another opportunity to show the Giants what he can do. In 211 plate appearances at Triple-A Sacramento this season, he has slashed an underwhelming .237/.360/.370 with four homers, 28 RBI and nine stolen bases. He can continue to be ignored for fantasy purpoess.

Giants placed OF Victor Bericoto on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.

Bericoto sustained the injury during Thursday’s battle against the Rockies. No word yet on how long he’ll be shelved for, but oblique issues are notoriously tricky and can tend to linger if not handled properly. Grant McCray was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to take his place on the Giants’ roster on Friday.
