Justin Crawford drives in career-high three in win

Keys broke this game open with a two out, three-run home run in the third inning. It was the first home run of his career and came in front of a raucous crowd at Rogers Centre in Toronto celebrating Canada Day. If he could find regular playing time, he’d be an intriguing corner infield option with a strong underlying profile in the upper minors. This was his third start in five games since being called up and his first at designated hitter after getting the call at first twice while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. battled a tight back. He drew this start because George Springer had a day off, so it’s still a wait and see situation as to Keys getting regular playing time.

Miles was very impressive here despite only going three innings on 46 pitches. Both his fastball and sinker sat between 97 and 98 mph and the latter flashed some impressive movement. His curveball flashed too and he was willing to throw it against hitters from both sides of the plate. There was enough here to make us think about adding him in very deep leagues. Otherwise, Patrick Corbin followed him as more of a bulk reliever going five innings, allowing three runs, and earning the save. With a 5.11 ERA, he should not be on our radar.

Benge keeps on hitting. He smacked his home run over 400 feet to the opposite field and it was one of three hard-hit balls he had on the day. That was also his 10th home run to go along with 11 stolen bases and a .259 batting average, which is sensational considering the fact that he was barely even hitting his weight through the first month of the season. Over the last 30 days, he has a .286/.333/.516 slash line with seven home runs as one of the best kept secrets in fantasy baseball because of much that first month is weight down his season-long stat line.

Peralta’s disastrous season just keeps getting worse. He gave up his first run after just the first three batters of the game. He had two of those hitters down to their final strike, but couldn’t put them away. Then, his entire four-run third inning debacle came with two outs. The biggest blow of that inning came from Sean Keys, who hit his first career home run. Just before that, he had Ernie Clement down to his final strike and could’ve escaped this jam without any runs on the board. Instead, after missing with a curveball, he came back with a fastball in the zone that Clement laced for an RBI double. Between poor command and a lack of confidence in all of his breaking stuff, Peralta is a shell of himself right now. He’ll take a 4.81 ERA with 92 strikeouts and 38 walks across 95 1/3 innings into his next scheduled start that could come Monday against the Braves or Tuesday against the Royals depending on how the Mets structure their rotation with an off-day on Thursday.

Kelenic passed through waivers unclaimed after going 1-for-8 during a seven-game stint with Texas. The 26-year-old was one of the more promising prospects in the game just a couple years ago, but has yet to find sustained success at the major-league level. He’ll likely continue to get opportunities as a reclamation project, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to envision him developing into an impact fantasy contributor at this stage.

Ross heads back to the open market in search of a new opportunity after passing through waivers unclaimed earlier this week. The well-traveled 33-year-old allowed allowed five runs over eight innings during five appearances for Texas after being called up back on June 13.

Roa should be able to latch on somewhere as organizational relief depth after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 27-year-old was designated for assignment last week without ever making an appearance for Chicago. He posted a pedestrian 5.19 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and a 6/7 K/BB ratio across 8 2/3 innings for the Astros earlier this season.

Núñez will stick around with Chicago as organizational relief depth after going unclaimed on waivers following his removal from the club’s 40-man roster earlier this week. The 27-year-old hasn’t pitched in the majors this season after posting a lackluster 7.11 ERA across 12 2/3 innings between the Padres and Athletics last year.

Gamboa was called up prior to Wednesday’s game against the Nationals and allowed two runs over 2 1/3 innings following an abbreviated outing by starter Payton Tolle. The 29-year-old has made three appearances for the Red Sox this season.

It’s somehow the first-ever trade between the Orioles and Nationals despite their close proximity. Nicolas represents a worthwhile dice roll for Washington’s underwhelming relief mix. The 27-year-old has been traded three times since spring training and has struggled to an 8.59 ERA and 7/13 K/BB ratio across 7 1/3 innings this season.
