Eric Lauer yielded three runs in six innings Monday versus the Rockies.

Lauer left with a three-run lead that held up until the ninth, when Tanner Scott had a rare off night. It’s the third time in four outings that Scott has allowed three runs in exactly six innings. He pitched no-hit ball for six innings in the other game during the span. Lauer isn’t slated to make another start before the break, but he could factor into Sunday’s game behind Emmet Sheehan.
Skenes wins second straight start after slide
Dave Flemming, Tim Dillard, and Bob Walk reveal their top takeaways from the Pirates' impressive three-game sweep of the Brewers, capped off by a blowout win on Sunday where Paul Skenes won his second straight start.

It was a surprise that the Dodgers felt the need to add Lauer last month after a miserable start to his season in Toronto, but he’s more than justified their faith in going 3-0 with a 3.88 ERA in six outings. He’s given up six homers and nine walks in 34 1/3 innings for the Dodgers. He allowed 11 homers and 16 walks while amassing a 6.69 ERA in 36 1/3 innings before the Jays cut him. Lauer figures to start again Sunday versus the Padres.

Lauer gave up no hits, walked three and struck out two. He entered in the second inning as the bulk reliever after Will Klein pitched the first inning. Lauer was excellent, keeping the Twins off the scoreboard and out of the hit column for six innings. He has a 4.87 ERA. Lauer isn’t scheduled to pitch again until next week.

Will Klein gets the ball as an opener for Los Angeles before turning things over to Lauer for a bulk outing. The 31-year-old lefty has delivered a respectable 3.22 ERA and 14/5 K/BB ratio across 22 1/3 innings since being acquired from the Blue Jays last month.

Everyone would rather see River Ryan making these starts for the Dodgers, but the team is now to 4-0 in Lauer’s outings, even though Lauer has just one win during the span. He’s posted a 3.22 ERA and a 14/5 K/BB in 22 1/3 innings since being acquired from the Blue Jays. Most likely, he’ll stay in the rotation and face the Twins next Monday.

After surrendering back-to-back home runs in the opening inning, Lauer settled into a comfortable rhythm, retiring 15 of the final 16 batters he faced. He struck out five and didn’t hand out a free pass. The 31-year-old southpaw was long gone by the time Los Angeles erupted for 10 runs in the seventh inning to pull away for an easy win. He’s allowed two earned runs or fewer in all three of his starts since joining the Dodgers’ rotation back on May 26. He’ll face the Rays in a home matchup on Monday.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #33
Lauer kept the Diamondbacks off the board through two innings before giving up a solo homer to Corbin Carroll in the third. He allowed the first two runners to reach in the fifth, then gave up a run on a sacrifice fly. Lauer struck out the next batter and was replaced on the mound at 70 pitches, falling one out short of qualifying for a win. He scattered five hits and one walk while striking out just one. The 31-year-old left-hander ends the day with a 5.74 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 31/18 K/BB ratio across 47 innings. But Tuesday’s start makes it three runs over 10 2/3 innings with the Dodgers. Lauer lines up for a start against the Pirates in Pittsburgh next Tuesday.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #33
Lauer, making his first start with the Dodgers, tossed a clean first inning before giving up a solo homer to Hunter Goodman in the second. He went on to scatter three more hits and one walk over four more scoreless innings, going a season-high six frames in his Dodgers debut while collecting four strikeouts. He’ll make for a risky deep-league streamer with win potential when he takes on the Diamondbacks in Arizona next Tuesday.

Lauer is available to pitch out of the bullpen this week after being plucked off waivers from the Blue Jays over the weekend. He’ll jump into Los Angeles’ rotation at some point next week as a replacement for Blake Snell, who underwent NanoScope surgery on his left elbow this week. The 30-year-old lefty is a non-factor fantasy-wise but his arrival means intriguing pitching prospect River Ryan will remain in Triple-A.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #56
Lauer will slot into the Dodgers’ six-man rotation after being acquired from the Blue Jays in a trade over the weekend. The 30-year-old lefty struggled to a bloated 6.69 ERA across 36 1/3 innings for Toronto earlier this season. He’s unlikely to carry any semblance of fantasy value unless Los Angeles’ pitching apparatus is able to unlock something to get him back on track. It’s a noteworthy development since he’ll take over Blake Snell’s rotation spot with prospect River Ryan likely staying in the minors.

The Blue Jays won’t really get anything here, other than saving the Dodgers’ portion of the major league minimum. Lauer, who was designated for assignment on Monday, is expected to join the Dodgers rotation after one or two appearances out of the pen. He had a 6.69 ERA in 36 1/3 innings for Toronto.

Jose Altuve delivered a solo homer in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

Altuve got the Astros on the board with his 11th homer of the season; a solo shot off MacKenzie Gore in the fourth. The 36-year-old has shown some decent pop, but he’s mostly scuffled in the first half of 2026 with a .235/.307/.404 slash.

Brandon Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a triple and a walk-off RBI single in a 6-5 win over the Astros on Sunday.

Nimmo’s RBI triple — his fourth three-bagger of the season — would give the Rangers a 4-1 lead. The Astros were able to comeback and actually take a 5-4 lead before Texas tied the game in the ninth on a Kyle Higashioka homer, and Nimmo cemented the win with the walk-off off Josh Hader. He’s now driven in 34 runs in his first season with the Rangers, and he’s slashing a respectable .263/.331/.425 to end the first half. You can do a lot worse.

Josh Hader gave up an RBI single and didn’t record an out while taking a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

It’s the first loss of the season for Hader. The 32-year-old gave up a pair of hits without recording an out, and then an RBI single from Brandon Nimmo gave the Rangers the win. Even with the struggle Sunday, Hader still has an ERA of 1.17, and to say he’s in no danger of giving up his closing gig is the understatement of understatements.

Cristian Javier allowed three runs in three innings in a no-decision against the Rangers on Sunday.

It’s a small sampler because of injury, but it’s probably not a good sign when three innings of three-run baseball sees your ERA actually drop to 9.98. It was his first start since returning from the shoulder strain, and it somewhat predictably didn’t go well as he allowed four hits and three walks to go with four strikeouts. It remains to be seen if Javier will remain in the rotation. It should be not be that same type of situation for fantasy managers who streamed Javier on Sunday.

MacKenzie Gore allowed one run over four innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Sunday.

Gore volunteered to start Sunday’s game on short rest, and it went as well — if not better — than could be expected. He blanked the Astros over the first three innings, with the only blemish a solo shot from Jose Altuve in the fourth. He gave up just one more hit along with a walk while striking out four. It’s not a great fantasy outing, but one that the Rangers should be pretty thankful for. Gore will be back on the bump after the All-Star break.

Blaze Alexander was diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture in his left hand after being hit by a pitch during Sunday’s game versus the Royals.

Alexander is “going to miss some time” according to manager Craig Albernaz The 27-year-old has been a quality contributor for the Orioles since the start of June, but now will assuredly be placed on the injured list prior to Friday’s game, and Baltimore will have to turn to Norfolk for a replacement.

Andruw Monasterio doubled and walked twice, with the second scoring a run in the ninth, as the Red Sox came back to beat the Mets 3-2 in 10 innings on Sunday.

Monasterio came up with the bases loaded against Devin Williams in the ninth and worked a walk even after declining to challenge a called strike on a clear ball to begin the at-bat. That gave the Red Sox their first run before Jarren Duran tied the game with a shallow flyball. Before that, Monasterio had Boston’s only extra-base hit of the game off Zach Thornton. He’s 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI the last two days, raising his OPS from .629 to .694. The win was Boston’s ninth in a row, with sweeps over the Angels, White Sox and Mets. It’s the first time since 1977 that they’ve gone 9-0 on a road trip.

Payton Tolle was lifted after allowing one run and striking out seven in 3 2/3 innings Sunday against the Mets.

After calling up Brayan Bello, the Red Sox hinted before the game that this could be a short start for Tolle and that obviously turned out to be the case, even though Tolle was plenty effective with his 66 pitches. Tolle finishes off the first half with a 3.11 ERA and an 87/25 K/BB in 84 innings. Throw in his three Triple-A starts and he’s at 99 innings for the season. He finished at 108 last year in his first season as a pro, so there might be more managing of his workload going forward.

Brayan Bello allowed one run and struck out five in 4 1/3 innings of relief work Sunday against the Mets.

Bello hadn’t pitched in 11 days and wasn’t particularly effective during his stint in Triple-A, but one would never know it from his performance today. After taking over from Payton Tolle in the fourth, he faced 14 batters and got 13 outs. A solo shot from Francisco Lindor accounted for the only damage. Bello seemed likely to return to Triple-A after pitching today, but following such a nice showing, we’ll have to wait and see. He could start the fifth game after the break if Ranger Suarez isn’t ready to come off the IL.

Garrett Whitlock pitched a perfect 10th to protect a one-run lead and earn his second save Sunday against the Mets.

The Red Sox used Aroldis Chapman in a tie game in the ninth, and he got the win after the team scored in the top of the 10th. Whitlock then retired Jorge Polanco, Brett Baty and Bo Bichette in order. He has a 2.18 ERA and a 37/6 K/BB in 33 innings this season. Whitlock is likely one of the pitchers the Red Sox will consider moving if they opt to sell at the deadline, but a nine-game winning streak to end the first half has made it more likely that most everyone is going to stick around.
