Ernie Clement homers in 10th to lead Blue Jays

Pereira had been designated for assignment on Monday. The 25-year-old outfielder slashed .225/.284/.438 with four homers and 11 RBI in 88 plate appearances with the White Sox around stints on the injured list. He’ll add outfield depth for the Cardinals and can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Ryan suffered the injury during Tuesday’s start against the Royals. No word yet on how long he’s expected to be sidelined for, but it’s a massive blow to the Twins’ rotation as they’re trying to fight for a playoff berth in a weakened American League.

The 32-year-old backstop was cut loose by the Dodgers after appearing in just 16 games at Triple-A Oklahoma City where he slashed an underwhelming .196/.323/.353 with a pair of homers and eight RBI in 62 plate appearances. He’ll add extra catching depth for the Tigers at Triple-A Toledo.

The 38-year-old right-hander was designated for assignment by the Rays on Sunday to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for Freddy Peralta. Kimbrel then passed through waivers unclaimed and refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Durham. He’s now free to explore opportunities elsewhere.

The 29-year-old infielder suffered the injury while rounding first base on his double in the first inning. He remained in the game to run the bases for himself but was replaced when the Jays took the field in the next half inning. Expect the club to provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.

This is probably what the Mets envisioned they’d be getting from Semien this year -- someone who can mash lefties -- and, well, better late than never. Semien is hitting .261/.340/.543 over his last 15 games. He’s still off the radar in shallow leagues, but should get a chance to re-establish his value down the stretch and could be an NL-only league starter again.

The Guardians had briefly rallied to make a game of it before Lindor took Craig Yoho’s change up out some 380 feet to right field for his 10th homer of the season, putting the Mets’ lead back up to four runs. Lindor is in the midst of a challenging season offensively, but is hitting .258/.333/.518 over his last 15 games with four homers. He’s only attempted four stolen bases all season, which has broken his fantasy value almost as much as the injuries have, but Lindor is capable of reeling off a hot streak to end the season.

Lowe is off to a .333/.385/.667 start in three games as a Guardian and has knocked in five runs. In this one, he took Nolan McLean out on a line drive to right for his 13th homer of the season. It’s likely he’ll remain a strong side platoon bat for the Guardians but a good first impression never hurts.

McLean managed just a 22 percent whiff rate and threw seven different pitches as he was apparently struggling to find a combination he could command today -- only 54 of his 94 pitches were strikes. The Guardians stacked left-handed bats against him -- lefty batters have a .701 OPS against McLean as compared to a .549 by right-handers -- and Nathaniel Lowe was able to launch a three-run homer to make the box score look ugly. McLean will look to rebound against the Braves next week.

Luis Torrens and Marcus Semien took him out of the park in the second inning and the Mets were able to tack on in both the third and fourth innings. Despite his last two starts being clunkers, Griffin is still 4-1 with a 2.84 ERA over his last seven starts, and this is a good situation to rack up some wins in if he can get hot. He’ll pitch against the Tigers next week.
