Wilson might be the Giants’ long-term closer, but he’s doesn’t seem to be an option to replace the struggling Armando Benitez right now. He has a 6.41 ERA and a 14/15 K/BB ratio in 19 2/3 IP while working in middle relief.

Chisholm was right; his swing was borderline at best and it definitely wasn’t one the home plate umpire should have called himself. Chisholm made it clear that Adam Hamari should have checked with the third base ump and was tossed during the argument. Anthony Volpe replaced him, with José Caballero moving from short to second.

With a 10.24 ERA in his previous three starts, Sheehan’s rotation spot might have been in jeopardy with a rough showing today. However, he did well in allowing just two hits and two walks. He moved to 4-5 with a 5.08 ERA ahead of another start against the Padres next weekend.

Henriquez had one save in three appearances in his debut in 2024, one in 22 appearances last year and now has one in 31 appearances while posting a 2.76 ERA in 32 2/3 innings this season. He had the ninth today after Tanner Scott came in with two outs in the seventh and pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for a hold. Scott should remain the Dodgers’ primary closer until Edwin Díaz returns.

King walked four. He had a great start in a 1-0 win over the Braves last time out, but that’s his only victory and one of just two quality starts while he’s amassed a 5.45 ERA and a 24/15 K/BB in 38 innings over his last seven outings. He’s not droppable in mixed leagues just yet, but it’d probably be a good idea to sit him in a road start in L.A. next weekend.

Machado has three homers and four doubles in his last eight games. He’s still batting just .189 for the year, but things are getting better.

Taylor finishes hitless in the series against the Dodgers, though he did have four walks while going 0-for-10. He’s still hitting .324/.410/.384 overall, and while it shouldn’t last, his stolen base ability makes him a decent fantasy option while he’s playing regularly.

France was OK afterwards and went on to finish the game at first base. He’ll probably be in the San Diego lineup Monday against a lefty.

Adames told reporters that he’s been dealing with spasms in his back for the past week or so, and it became too much during Sunday’s win over Atlanta. The 30-year-old should be considered day-to-day for now, but he’s going to undergo an MRI, and those results will play a large part in determining whether Adames will be able to play in the coming days.

14 hard-hit balls with just two strikeouts would typically make for a miserable day on the mound, but Robbie Ray channeled Kirk Reuter and made it work today. Most of the hardest contact against him came in the form of grounders, and he got a bunch of routine flies. He ended up allowing just four hits: three singles and a double. This makes four really strong outings in the six starts since Ray started turning to a sinker. He threw it a season-high 38 percent of the time today, and while he gave up all four hits on the pitch, it’s helping him turn in some of the longest outings of his career of late. He’ll probably go to it even more in Coors Field next weekend.
