Rays recalled RHP Juan Salas from Double-A Montgomery.
Salas was sent down Sunday in a paperwork move. He had allowed five runs in three innings since being recalled to the majors on Aug. 15.

José Caballero will undergo an MRI on his right middle finger.
Caballero is out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Orioles, with Max Schuemann at shortstop in his place, after suffering the injury during Sunday’s contest against Milwaukee. The 29-year-old speedster told reporters he’s not concerned about a potential trip to the injured list, but that’ll be determined by what imaging reveals. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. A trip to the injured list would almost certainly bring Anthony Volpe back to the major. There should be an update on his status prior to Tuesday’s contest.
Giants' Webb a solid 'buy-low' fantasy target
With Logan Webb making a rare trip to the injured list, Eric Samulski dives into the ripple effects for the Giants' rotation and fantasy manager's rosters.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #40
Ryan Weathers (illness) will start on Monday against the Orioles.
Weathers is officially taking the ball on Monday night at Camden Yards after having his previous start pushed back due to an illness that caused him to lose nearly 10 pounds. The 26-year-old southpaw is a candidate to move to the bullpen with Carlos Rodón back in New York’s rotation, and Gerrit Cole likely to return later this month. However, that’s not an immediate concern. He’ll close out a two-start week with a favorable matchup against the Mets this weekend.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #47
Matt Brash (lat) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Monday.
Brash figures to jump back into Seattle’s bullpen mix when first eligible to be activated later this week. The 27-year-old high-leverage specialist hit the shelf back in late April with lat inflammation.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #29
Blue Jays recalled RHP Yariel Rodríguez from Triple-A Buffalo.
Rodríguez was waived in the offseason to make room for Cody Ponce, but was unclaimed on waivers and returned to the Blue Jays organization. He also didn’t look great in spring training, but he has posted a 2.63 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 25/9 K/BB ratio in 13 2/3 innings at Triple-A. Our guess if he will fill the bulk relief role that Lauer had been used in. That makes him intriguing as a matchup-based add in deeper formats.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #56
Blue Jays designated LHP Eric Lauer for assignment.
Lauer has been very outspoken about his dislike of the Blue Jays using an opener before him, but we guess he won’t have to worry about that now. The left-hander has posted a 6.69 ERA this season and was no longer as effective as he showed himself to be in stretches last season. There’s a chance another team claims him off waivers.
  • TOR Left Fielder #46
Blue Jays recalled OF Yohendrick Piñango from Triple-A Buffalo.
Piñango was sent to Triple-A this weekend when Addison Barger returned from the IL despite hitting 423 (11-for-26) with four RBI in 10 games for the Blue Jays. With Barger now back in the IL with elbow inflammation, Piñango will come right back up and is an intriguing add in deeper formats.
  • TOR Right Fielder #47
Blue Jays placed 3B/OF Addison Barger on the 10-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.
Barger came off the injured list for one game after missing multiple weeks with ankle injuries. In that one game, he uncorked a 101 mph throw from right field, but then spoke to the media after the game with a huge ice wrap on his elbow. He’s now on the injured list with inflammation, and there is no timeline for his return.
  • SF 1st Baseman #16
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports that the Giants “would love” to unload large contracts for players like Rafael Devers, Jung Hoo Lee, Willy Adames, and Matt Chapman.
The Giants made one big move already, sending Patrick Bailey to the Guardians, and it seems like that could just be one step in a full-on rebuild. All of Jung Hoo Lee ($85 million left on his contract), shortstop Willy Adames ($161 million remaining), first baseman Rafael Devers ($226.5 million remaining), and Matt Chapman ($125 million remaining) are owed plenty of money going forward, so the Giants could have plenty of interesting levers to pull as we get closer to the trade deadline.
  • CWS Left Fielder #38
White Sox re-signed OF Dustin Harris to a minor league contract.
Harris was with the White Sox last month but was designated for assignment and claimed by the Astros. He was then waived and elected free agency. Now he’s back with the White Sox. The 26-year-old has hit .233/.333/.302 in 52 plate appearances with the White Sox and Astros this season.
  • TB Right Fielder #55
Justyn-Henry Malloy cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Durham.
Malloy was designated for assignment on Saturday, but he elected to stay with the Rays organization in the minor leagues. He remains a depth piece in a crowded outfield.
