According to Alex Speier of WEEI.com, the Red Sox will officially sign first-round left-hander Trey Ball on Wednesday.
Ball, who was selected No. 7 overall in this month’s First-Year Player Draft, was in Boston on Monday to take his physical. No word yet on the exact amount of his bonus, but he’s expected to sign for less than the $3.246 million recommended slot value.

Marlins recalled LHP Dax Fulton from Triple-A Jacksonville.
This is not the left-handed pitching prospect that many people expected the Marlins to call up from Triple-A; however, the Marlins have said that Fulton will pitch out of the bullpen. Miami doesn’t need a starting pitcher until Friday, so Fulton will operate out of the bullpen until then. The 24-year-old has a 7.65 ERA in 20 innings at Triple-A this season. If he gets into a game, it will be his MLB debut.
'A lot of pitchers' will be in mix for AL Cy Young
Vaughn Dalzell and Drew Dinsick look at the early odds for American League Cy Young Award, evaluating options such as Cam Schlittler and Dylan Cease.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #61
Athletics recalled RHP Brooks Kriske from Triple-A Las Vegas.
The 32-year-old has a 2.25 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 25/11 K/BB ratio in 16 innings at Triple-A this season. He has a 9.53 ERA in 39 2/3 career MLB innings.
  • WSH Middle Reliever
Nationals recalled RHP Zak Kent from Triple-A Rochester
Kent was claimed off waivers from the Twins on Sunday. He posted a 4.91 ERA and 2/5 K/BB ratio in 3 2/3 innings for the Twins this season.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #58
Mets signed LHP Cionel Pérez to a minor-league contract.
Pérez was designated for assignment by the Nationals over the weekend, cleared waivers, and opted for free agency. He will now join the Mets’ organization after posting a 6.19 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, and 9/11 K/BB ratio across 16 innings with Washington this season.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #41
Joe Ryan (elbow) is officially listed as a starter for Saturday’s game against the Guardians.
Ryan was removed from his last start in the first inning with elbow soreness, but the corresponding MRI revealed no structural damage. As of now, it appears that Ryan won’t miss his turn in the rotation. If you have the option, we’d rather keep Ryan on the bench for this start until we can be sure that he’s truly healthy.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #31
Tyler Glasnow left his start on Wednesday in the second inning with lower back pain.
Glasnow motioned for the trainer after throwing a warm-up pitch in the bottom of the second inning. There was a brief conversation, and then Glasnow left the mound with the trainer. Glasnow’s fastball velocity was actually up in his first inning, so nothing indicated he was dealing with an injury until he threw that warm-up pitch. We will wait for more information, but there’s a chance he’s just dealing with a minor flare up in his lower back.
  • SD 3rd Baseman #24
Sung-Mun Song will start at shortstop and bat ninth against the Giants on Wednesday.
Song went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored in his MLB debut on Tuesday. He has now started two straight games with Jake Cronenworth on the concussion-IL. Song was hitting .293/.364/.354 in 110 plate appearances at Triple-A with one home run, one steal, and a 27/11 K/BB ratio. There is a window for him to earn playing time if he can produce while Cronenworth is out.
  • TB Left Fielder #11
Gavin Lux (shoulder) could return to the Rays’ lineup this weekend.
Lux is hitting just .169/.329/.288 in 73 plate appearances in Triple-A with a 20/14 K/BB ratio. Lux has just a 20.5 percent hard-hit rate at Triple-A, so there doesn’t seem to be much to get excited about right now.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #56
Dodgers optioned LHP Jake Eder to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Eder allowed one run on three hits in four innings out of the Dodgers’ bullpen with one strikeout and one walk. He should get another shot over the summer.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #41
Dodgers activated RHP Brock Stewart (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list.
Stewart is recovering from last season’s shoulder surgery and will make his season debut when he gets into a game. He was solid in 2025 for the Twins and Dodgers in 37 2/3 innings and will work in the middle innings out of the bullpen.
