Wilin Rosario is aiming for a return to MLB and will work out for clubs Wednesday in the Dominican Republic.
Rosario turns 30 in February and hasn’t played in the majors since 2015 with the Rockies. He enjoyed a lot of success from 2016-2017 while playing in the Korea Baseball Organization, but he underwhelmed during a stint in Japan last year. There’s some pop here, but he’s mostly a first base/DH type and there’s already quite of few of those still looking for jobs right now.

Eugenio Suárez (hand) took light batting practice on Wednesday.
Suárez expressed confidence that he’ll return to Arizona’s lineup for Friday’s series opener against the Marlins. It’s unclear whether he’ll still undergo an MRI out of an abundance of caution, but it’s worth noting that initial X-rays didn’t reveal any fractures. Fantasy managers aren’t out of the woods just yet, but this is certainly an encouraging sign.
Mets' Montas has appeal as fantasy SP streamer
Eric Samulski weighs in on Frankie Montas' encouraging return to the Mets, highlighting how he fits into a rotation with several moving parts, and why he's an attractive rest-of-season streamer in appealing matchups.
  • TEX Left Fielder #36
Wyatt Langford is absent from Wednesday’s lineup with left side tightness.
Langford will undergo additional testing later this week to determine the severity of the issue. There’s cause for concern here since the 23-year-old fantasy standout missed nearly three weeks back in April with an oblique strain. It’s possible he’ll check out completely fine, but the Rangers can’t afford to take any chances. There should be an update on his status heading into Friday’s series opener against the Mariners.
  • NYY Catcher #25
J.C. Escarra is unavailable for Wednesday’s game against the Reds after his wife went into labor.
There isn’t time for New York to get another catcher to Cincinnati in time for Wednesday’s series finale, so they’ll roll with Austin Wells and Ben Rice, if necessary in an emergency, to handle the catching duties. The 30-year-old will likely be put on the paternity list later this week.
  • CWS Shortstop #50
Lenyn Sosa hit his fifth and sixth homers Wednesday to lead the White Sox past the Diamondbacks 7-3.
Sosa also singled on a four-RBI day. The one negative was that he was caught on a rare steal attempt; he had been 1-for-1 there this season and 4-for-6 in 228 games since debuting in 2022. Sosa is batting .277/.298/.416 in 239 plate appearances this season. OBP is always going to be a major issue here, but there’s no reason he can’t keep hitting for a solid average and power. He should be batting higher than seventh in the White Sox lineup.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #59
Sean Burke allowed only a pair of unearned runs and struck out seven in five innings for a win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Burke demonstrated his best velocity of the season today, even touching 98 mph at one point. His 95.3-mph average on his fastball was up 1.2 mph from his season average, and his curve and slider were both up by a tad more than two mph. He’d already been trending higher in recent weeks, perhaps in part because he’s getting some extra rest (he’s had at least an extra day between starts in seven straight outings now). If only Burke was pitching for a better team, he’d be one to watch. As is, mixed-league value is going to be very tough to come by with the White Sox. Burke will make his next start in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #23
Zac Gallen surrendered five runs in 5 1/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the White Sox.
Gallen didn’t have his best stuff today, with his velocity down about one mph. He got just six misses on 36 swings over 87 pitches, and he gave up homers to Andrew Benintendi and Lenyn Sosa. The loss leaves him 5-9 with a 5.75 ERA. He has some company in having nine losses, but the other four pitchers with at least that many are all pitching for last-place teams. There’s always the chance Gallen will bounce back, but with his strikeout rate down and his walk rate up, he seems droppable in mixed leagues at this point. He’ll make his next start at home against the Giants.
  • CWS Catcher #8
Kyle Teel went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored Wednesday versus the D-backs.
At .282/.408/.359 in 49 plate appearances, Teel is off to a nice start to his major league career. Maybe it’ll start to lead to some DH time when he’s not catching; he started there in his second game with the White Sox on June 7, but, apart from one inning in left field, he’s only caught since.
  • ARI 1st Baseman #22
Josh Naylor went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in his return to the Diamondbacks lineup Wednesday against the White Sox.
Naylor left Monday’s game and was scratched Tuesday because of right shoulder soreness. The homer, which came off Sean Burke in the first inning, was his 10th of the year.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher #43
Jonathan Loáisiga is unavailable for Wednesday’s game against the Reds due to illness.
Loáisiga will be unavailable to pitch during Wednesday’s series finale in Cincinnati. Unfortunately, the club probably doesn’t have time to bring out a replacement, so they’ll go a man short in the bullpen.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #63
Justin Slaten (shoulder) has yet to resume throwing.
Slaten is dealing with a nerve-related issue in his neck, which led to shoulder inflammation, and remains completely shut down. It certainly sounds like he won’t be an option for Boston’s relief mix until the later stages of the second half.
