Doug Fister’s agent, Page Odle, said Wednesday that his client has decided to retire from baseball.
“He’s been contemplating this for a couple months,” Odle said in a telephone interview. “The main reason is that he wants to start a new chapter in his life. This is 100 percent family driven. He’s really excited about being a dad and husband. He’s very much a family-oriented guy.” Fister, 35, posted a 3.72 ERA over parts of 10 big league seasons for the Mariners, Tigers, Nationals, Astros, Red Sox and Rangers.
