Shohei Ohtani was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the fifth inning with the Dodgers up 10-1 against the Rockies on Tuesday.

The caveat here is that Ohtani was hit on his right hand by a pitch his previous time up, though it didn’t seem like a problem at the time. Maybe it started bothering him or maybe the Dodgers just thought it made sense to take him out of a blowout, especially since he’s pitching Wednesday.

Brooks Lee

MIN Shortstop #22

Brooks Lee went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI against the White Sox on Tuesday.

The Twins and White Sox were locked in a 2-2 tie before Lee came up in the 11th inning. With the bases loaded, he roped a double to right field that drove in all three runs. The Twins would go on to win 5-3. Lee is hitting .259 with 23 runs, six home runs, 30 RBI and three stolen bases.

Munetaka Murakami

CWS 1st Baseman #5

Munetaka Murakami went 1-for-5 with two runs scored and a two-run home run against the Twins on Tuesday.

Murakami’s home run was his 19th. He hit a two-run shot off Joe Ryan to tied the game 2-2 in the eighth inning. Murakami is hitting just .234, but his power hitting remains elite. He has 39 runs scored and 39 RBI as well as a .917 OPS.

Brandon Marsh

PHI Left Fielder #16

Brandon Marsh was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Padres with a right middle finger sprain.

Marsh was 2-for-2 before leaving the contest in the fourth inning. It sounds like a possible injured list situation considering the nature of the injury. There should be some clarity on his status ahead of Wednesday’s contest.

Sean Burke

CWS Starting Pitcher #59

Sean Burke allowed two runs in seven innings and got a no-decision against the Twins on Tuesday.

Burke gave up three hits, two walks and struck out eight. He has a 3.90 ERA that’s mostly supported by his 4.08 xFIP. Burke is having a respectable season with 54 strikeouts in 60 innings. He can be used in the right matchups as a streaming option. Burke is lined up to face the Tigers at home this weekend.

Joe Ryan

MIN Starting Pitcher #41

Joe Ryan allowed two runs in 7 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Twins’ 5-3 victory over the White Sox on Tuesday.

Ryan gave up five hits, walked none and struck out nine. He’s had nine strikeouts in back-to-back starts. The only damage against Ryan came on a two-run home run by Munetaka Murakami in the eighth inning. Ryan has a 2.94 ERA. He’s lined up to face the Pirates on the road on Sunday.

Matt Bowman

Blue Jays signed RHP Matt Bowman to a minor league contract.

Bowman joins Toronto’s injury-depleted pitching staff after being cut loose by the Twins last week after triggering the opt-out in his minor league deal. The 34-year-old journeyman has posted a strong 1.69 ERA and 25/6 K/BB ratio across 21 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season after making 20 appearances for the Orioles last year. He’s made 231 career appearances between seven different organizations since 2016.

NYM Starting Pitcher #21
Jonah Tong will make a bulk relief appearance on Wednesday against the Reds.

Tong will take the ball after opener Huascar Brazobán on Wednesday night at Citi Field. The 22-year-old top prospect tossed three hitless innings with a pair of strikeouts in his season debut against the Marlins last Friday. There’s some clear streaming appeal in deeper mixed leagues based on his strikeout upside, especially against a Reds lineup that has been fairly pedestrian this season.

Garrett Mitchell went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run against the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Mitchell’s home run was his third. He hit a three-run home run off Cardinals reliever Ryan Fernandez in the fifth inning. Mitchell continues to start in centerfield, but already has 60 strikeouts in 137 at-bats. He doesn’t have much value outside of deeper formats.
