    Athletics released RHP Justin Grimm.
Grimm passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment by the Athletics back on May 28. The 33-year-old veteran should attract some interest on the open market after posting a serviceable 4.11 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 11/7 K/BB ratio across 15 1/3 innings (15 appearances) this season at the major-league level.

Beau Brieske left Monday’s appearance against Atlanta with tightness in his right ribcage.
Target Abreu late for fantasy RP amid Hader injury
Eric Samulski and James Schiano look at the 'landmine-y' world of fantasy relief pitchers and explain why Josh Hader's injury gives Bryan Abreu a massive boost in value.
  • DET Pitcher #4
Beau Brieske left his outing Monday against Atlanta with an undisclosed injury.
It’s the second time that Brieske has dealt with injuries in the Grapefruit League, as the 27-year-old was held out of Thursday’s game against Baltimore because of side soreness. He was only able to throw three pitches before exiting. The 27-year-old should have an update on his status shortly.
  • LAD Pitcher #35
Gavin Stone has stopped throwing after experiencing a “setback” in his recovery according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.
Stone is working his way back after missing all of 2025 due to shoulder surgery, and he was impressive in his first spring outing. Unfortunately, the setback means it’s likely the 25-year-old will need to miss the start of the regular season. There should be further updates on Stone’s situation in the coming weeks.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #52
Mike Clevinger fired three scoreless frames against the Rays on Monday.
Clevinger allowed just one hit, struckout three and walked two. The 35-year-old is trying to win a spot in the Pittsburgh rotation, and while these are the type of results he’ll need, he still has a long way to go. Even if Clevinger gets one of those starting gigs, he is a must-avoid in fantasy formats.
  • TB Pitcher #59
Mason Englert went two innings while allowing one run in his Grapefruit League start against the Pirates on Monday.
Englert gave up five hits, but was able to limit the scoring damage to just a Logan Davidson single. The 25-year-old is capable of working multiple innings, but it’ll likely be in a bullpen role without fantasy upside.
  • HOU Pitcher #58
Hunter Brown gave up one run while firing 2 2/3 innings in his start Monday against the Nationals.
Brown had issues landing strikes, as he walked a pair before being pulled in the third. He also struck out three, so the stuff was fine, as usual. Brown is set to be the ace of the Astros, and there’s a very good chance he’ll be a fantasy one in turn.
  • KC Pitcher #87
Royals optioned RHP Eric Cerantola to Triple-A Omaha.
Cerantola forged a 4.04 ERA for Omaha in 2025, but it came with 63 strikeouts in 49 innings. He could be a bullpen option at some point in 2026 for Kansas City.
  • WSH Pitcher #40
Josiah Gray went 1 2/3 innings while allowing one run against the Astros on Monday.
Gray was able to whiff three in his spring debut while allowing two hits and no walks. The right-hander missed all of 2025 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, and he’s one of the few Washington hurlers who offers some potential intrigue. Fantasy managers probably shouldn’t take the risk just yet, but he’s certainly worth monitoring.
  • COL Pitcher #21
Kyle Freeland (back) will make a start against Team USA on Wednesday.
Freeland has been dealing with back spasms, but he’s feeling well enough to get the ball against the vaunted USA lineup in an exhibition bout. Freeland should be ready to go for the regular season, but offers not even a morsel of fantasy upside in his left arm at this stage of his career.
  • CWS Outfield #23
Andrew Benintendi (side) told reporters that he’s likely to return to the lineup after Wednesday’s off day.
Benintendi was scratched from Friday’s game because of soreness in his right side. The outfielder also told reporters that if this was the regular season he could play. It is very much not, but Benintendi should be ready in plenty of time for the regular season even if he doesn’t return Thursday.
