Twins signed OF Braden Bishop to a minor league contract.
Bishop signed a minor league deal with the Diamondbacks in January but after hitting .232/.312/.312 with two home runs and seven swipes in 154 plate appearances was cut loose by the club on June 7.

Zebby Matthews blanked the Marlins for seven innings, allowing just four hits, in his 2026 debut as the Twins prevailed 9-1 on Thursday.
Matthews’ 2026 debut couldn’t have gone much better, as he struck out five and walked one in a breezy 83-pitch outing. That his velocity is still down about 1.5 mph from last year makes him quite a bit less intriguing as a fantasy option. Still, his new, intentionally slower curveball worked well today, generating a 46 percent CSW and one very weak groundout the 13 times he threw it. He should stick around and face the Astros next week.
Raleigh worth keeping on rosters while on IL
Eric Samulski talks about Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh's injury and how fantasy managers should approach his absence.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #20
Making his first MLB start in 23 months, Braxton Garrett walked five and gave up five runs in 1 1/3 innings Thursday against the Twins.
Maybe some nerves here. Garrett actually walked one more batter today than he did in his seven starts and 37 innings before going down in 2024 and requiring Tommy John surgery. He was also unusually wild in Triple-A, walking 15 in 31 1/3 innings prior to his recall today. Still, he’ll get better and probably prove to be a solid enough starter for the Marlins. He’ll face the Braves next time out.
  • MIN Left Fielder #16
Austin Martin went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI, a walk and a steal as the Twins’ leadoff man Thursday against the Marlins.
Martin will be the biggest beneficiary of Matt Wallner’s demotion, and he should have a chance to play nearly every day until the Twins decide Emmanuel Rodríguez or Walker Jenkins is ready (both are actually on the Triple-A IL at the moment) or wants to give Wallner another chance. Martin’s exit velocity numbers remain weak, but he’s batting .333 anyway, and his 18/22 K/BB in 130 plate appearances is exceptional. As a decent source of batting average, steals and, potentially, runs scored, he’s an option in deeper mixed leagues.
  • MIN Center Fielder #30
James Outman went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI and a walk Thursday against the Marlins.
For once not living up to his name, Outman raised his OBP from .171 to .231 today. He had been without an RBI in 33 at-bats this season coming into the game. With Matt Wallner getting sent down, Outman should be in line for more at-bats against right-handers. He probably wouldn’t have made the team out of spring training if he hadn’t been out of options, and the Twins need to give him some sort of look in order to decide whether he’s worth keeping around.
  • MIA 2nd Baseman #19
Leo Jiménez went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts as the Marlins’ designated hitter on Thursday.
The right-handed-hitting Jiménez was limited to playing against lefties previously, but since Graham Pauley got sent down, he’s started three of the Marlins’ five games against righties. He did collect three hits last night, which was probably why he was back in there today, but the DH spot really isn’t being optimized while being filled by a utilityman with a career .211/.309/.322 line in 283 major league plate appearances. The Marlins will probably keep mixing and matching until Griffin Conine comes off the IL or Agustín Ramírez returns from exile.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #33
Braves’ manager Walt Weiss confirmed on Thursday that left-hander Martín Pérez will start on Monday against the Marlins.
While the Braves have yet to officially announce their rotation for their weekend series against the Red Sox, the expectation is that Bryce Elder and Spencer Strider will start the first two games with Grant Holmes sliding back into the Braves’ rotation on Sunday. Pérez, 35, has posted a brilliant 2.31 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 26/11 K/BB ratio over 35 innings in his eight appearances (five starts, with the Braves this season.
  • PHI Shortstop #7
Trea Turner (illness) returned to the Phillies’ starting lineup for Thursday’s showdown against the Red Sox.
Turner was held out of the Phillies’ lineup on Wednesday as he was feeling a bit under the weather, but he’s right back in there in his customary leadoff spot against former teammate Ranger Suarez on Thursday evening. The dynamic 32-year-old shortstop has hit just .234/.286/.345 with four homers, 13 RBI and five stolen bases through his first 185 plate appearances on the season.
  • CWS 2nd Baseman
Sam Antonacci is not in the White Sox’ starting lineup for Thursday’s matchup against the Royals.
Like fellow left-handed hitters Colson Montgomery and Tristan Peters, Antonacci will take a seat with left-handed Kris Bubic toeing the slab for the Royals. Randal Grichuk will start in his place in left field and bat cleanup for the White Sox on Thursday evening.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #47
Matt Brash (lat) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday.
Brash is only expected to require one or two tune-ups at the Triple-A level before he’s cleared to rejoin the Mariners’ bullpen. Expect to see him back with the big league club before the weekend is through.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #57
Nationals optioned RHP Zak Kent to Triple-A Rochester.
The right-hander made four appearances during his brief stay with the Nationals, posting a 6.35 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 5/0 K/BB ratio across 5 2/3 innings. He threw 42 pitches during Thursday afternoon’s blowout loss to the Reds and wasn’t going to be available for a few days, so they’ll swap him out for a fresh arm. Expect that corresponding move to be announced on Friday.
