José Leclerc tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Monday against the Mets to record his second save of the season.
Leclerc got the call to guard a one-run lead in the ninth inning with both Aroldis Chapman and Brock Burke unavailable after pitching back-to-back games over the weekend. He struck out Pete Alonso and Daniel Vogelbach before issuing a two-out walk to Francisco Alvarez. He managed to escape with the lead intact by getting Omar Narváez to line out to right field.

Ronny Mauricio went 3-for-4 with a walk, three home runs, four runs scored, and five RBI for Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.
Well, the Mets could sure use some of that. Mauricio is now up to six home runs and 13 RBI in his 14 games at Triple-A with a .315/.362/.685 slash line. He does have some swing and miss concerns, but he can play anywhere on the infield, so the Mets might want to find some room for his bat if their offense continues to struggle.
Expect closer by committee with Diaz sidelined
With Edwin Diaz sidelined for multiple months, Eric Samulski highlights which Dodger arms fantasy managers should have their eyes on and why Tanner Scott could get the "majority" of save opportunities.

Red Sox are reportedly calling up LHP prospect Eduardo Rivera
Yes, Rivera is a starting pitching prospect, but all signs are that he will not be filling Sonny Gray’s (hamstring) spot in the rotation, but instead will be used for length out of the bullpen. The Red Sox bullpen has been taxed early in the week, with Gray getting hurt and Connelly Early failing to complete six innings on Tuesday. Rivera should be able to throw multiple innings in one of the games against the Yankees before the Red Sox need a starter in Gray’s spot over the weekend. Rivera is just 22 years old but was somehow cut by the Athletics midway through the 2024 season. Last season for Boston, he posted a 2.48 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 108/46 K/BB ratio in 87 innings split between High-A and Double-A. He was off to a strong start in two appearances for Double-A this season and will likely join the Red Sox rotation in Triple-A after this brief call-up.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #20
Braxton Garrett allowed two runs (one earned) on no hits in eight innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, walking three and striking out six.
Garrett now has a 0.77 ERA in 23 1/3 innings at Triple-A this season with a 23/8 K/BB ratio. The left-hander is on the 40-man roster, while Robbie Snelling is not, so even though Snelling is an intriguing prospect and a fantasy darling, it will most likely be Garrett that gets the first chance to replace a starter in the Marlins rotation. That could be coming any week now, given his recent performances.

Yankees recalled RHP Jake Bird from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
Ryan Weathers was placed on the Paternity List but should be back for his scheduled start, so the Yankees will add an extra reliever for the time being.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #40
Yankees placed LHP Ryan Weathers on the paternity list.
Congrats to Weathers and his growing family. The left-hander wasn’t set to start until Saturday, so there should be no change to that plan now.
  • CLE 1st Baseman #8
Rhys Hoskins is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Astros.
This is now the second straight game that Hoskins has started on the bench. The veteran is hitting .214/.353/.357 with a 28 percent strikeout rate and just one home run. Hoskins still has an 11 percent barrel rate, but he’s not pulling the ball as often as before. Perhaps he just needs to warm up. Jose Ramirez will DH on Wednesday with Daniel Schneemann at third base and Juan Brito at second base.
  • MIA Left Fielder #28
Kyle Stowers is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Cardinals.
This seems like a routine day off for Stowers, who has played in all three games since coming off the injured list with a hamstring strain. Heriberto Hernandez will play left field and bat sixth.

MassLive’s Chris Cotillo reported that sources believe “Lucas Giolito and the Padres is an inevitable marriage that could take shape soon.”
Obviously, we are dealing with levels of rumor and speculation here, but it does make sense, especially after Nick Pivetta’s elbow injury. We know the Padres have interest in the 31-year-old starter, and Giolito has said that he’s maintained a pitch count around 75 while working out on his own this offseason, so he shouldn’t take too long to ramp up. In 26 starts last season, Giolito had a 3.41 ERA and would be on the streaming radar in 12-team leagues if/when he gets back to the big leagues.

Hunter Harvey (triceps) will restart his throwing program on Friday.
Harvey has been on the injured list with triceps inflammation since April 12th. He still faces a bit of a ramp-up process, but the Cubs could certainly use him with Daniel Palencia (lat) on the injured list.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #47
Alek Manoah (finger) threw four simulated innings against live hitters on Tuesday.
Manoah had been on the injured list with a right finger contusion for the last month, but this has also given the Angels a chance to continue to work with him and build up his arm strength. Manager Kurt Suzuki said that Manoah was “nearing a rehab assignment,” which could begin as soon as next week.
