Cubs placed 2B Nico Hoerner on the 10-day injured list with a left knee contusion.
In a flurry of roster moves on the season’s final day, the 26-year-old landed on the injured list with a left knee bruise. Hoerner finishes the season hitting .283/.346/.383 with nine homers and 43 stolen bases across 688 plate appearances. He will likely need to add more power to his game if he wishes to take that next step in fantasy baseball rankings.

Logan Webb improved to 3-4 on Wednesday in Milwaukee, tossing seven shutout innings while allowing one hit and one walk.
Webb struck out four and lowered his ERA to 4.25 this season. He struggled in his first start back from a knee issue, but that outing came at Coors Field. The right-hander looked like his vintage self against the Brewers, which the Giants will need going forward as they battle the Rockies to escape the NL West cellar. Webb’s next matchup is scheduled to come at home against the Nationals, who entered Wednesday leading MLB in runs per game.
Judge seeing specialist for 'nagging' rib bruise
The New York Yankees could be facing time without reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge, who is seeing a specialist for an upper rib bone bruise he is thought to have suffered May 3.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #54
Robert Gasser took the loss on Wednesday against the Giants, yielding one earned run on five hits over five innings pitched.
Gasser struck out five and walked one in his best start across three tries in 2026. His results have been better in Triple-A this year, which Wednesday’s outing more accurately reflected. This was likely just a spot start as Milwaukee pieces the back half of its rotation together series by series. Chad Patrick worked four innings out of the bullpen in a piggyback role on Wednesday.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #67
Keaton Winn pitched 1 2/3 innings to earn his first save of the season in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over the Brewers.
Winn becomes the sixth Giants pitcher to earn a save this season, but nobody has collected more than three. Caleb Kilian is one of those relievers with three, but he would’ve been pitching for the third time in four days on Wednesday. Winn’s metrics are strong enough that he could be considered the best arm in this bullpen, but manager Tony Vitello has mixed and matched all year long.
  • TEX Left Fielder #36
Wyatt Langford (forearm) went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer on Wednesday in a minor league rehab game for Double-A Frisco.
  • TEX Shortstop #5
Corey Seager (back) went 0-for-3 on Wednesday in a minor league rehab game for Double-A Frisco.
Seager played six innings at shortstop in his second rehab contest. He’s gone 1-for-5 at the plate during that span. The 32-year-old could potentially rejoin Texas’ lineup for Friday’s series opener against Cleveland.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #32
Stephen Kolek received a no-decision on Wednesday against the Reds, tossing seven innings of two-run ball while striking out eight.
Kolek allowed six hits and two walks in the outing, lowering his ERA to 3.32 this season. He opened the year on the injured list but has filled in admirably while Kansas City has battled pitching injuries. His next start projects to come at home against the Rangers, where he’ll continue to lean on grounders and strike-throwing.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #26
Chase Burns received a no-decision on Wednesday against the Royals, striking out nine while limited Kansas City to two earned runs over six innings pitched.
Burns allowed four hits and one walk as his ERA now sits at 2.05 this season. The young righty had his start pushed back from Monday due to an illness, but it didn’t affect his ability to miss bats. He possesses some of the best underlying metrics among all big-league starters and draws a favorable road matchup in San Diego next time out.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #56
Alex Lange struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his first save of the season on Wednesday in Cincinnati.
Lange allowed one hit and one walk as the Royals edged the Reds, 5-2. Lucas Erceg has struggled mightily as Kansas City’s closer lately, so there’s opportunity in this bullpen. Left-hander Daniel Lynch IV has been the team’s most effective reliever, but he worked the eighth before Lange entered. Lange had 26 saves for the Tigers back in 2023, but it would be a surprise if he fully took the role from here on out.
  • KC 1st Baseman #9
Vinnie Pasquantino went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, and two RBI as the Royals defeated the Reds 5-2 on Wednesday.
Pasquantino has yet to find the power stroke that launched 32 homers and drove in 113 runs a season ago. His barrel rate, bat speed, and fast swing rate are all noticeably down through two months of play. He has only missed four games and continues to bat in the heart of the Royals’ lineup.
  • CIN Right Fielder #59
Blake Dunn went 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBI as the Reds fell to the Royals on Wednesday.
Dunn’s homer was a two-run blast off Stephen Kolek that tied the game in the fifth. The Reds have cycled through leadoff hitters this season, but Dunn has occupied the spot in 10 of their past 11 contests. The lineup isn’t as dangerous without Elly De La Cruz, but it’s a nice role to have with a great home park to hit in and summer weather approaching.
