Eduardo Rodriguez wrapped up his 2023 season — and perhaps his tenure with the Tigers — with a strong start on Sunday afternoon, giving up just two runs (one earned) on four hits over seven strong frames.
The 30-year-old southpaw racked up five strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing only one base on balls. The Guardians scratched out an unearned run against him in the fourth inning, then Rodriguez served up a solo blast to Tyler Freeman in the fifth. He generated nine swings and misses on 94 pitches on the afternoon, posting a respectable CSW of 27 percent. He finishes a terrific season with a 13-9 record, 3.30 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 143/48 K/BB ratio over 152 2/3 innings in his 26 starts. Though he admits to enjoying his time in Detroit, Rodriguez is expected to opt out of his contract after the season and cash in on the free agent market — though that could still potentially mean a return to Motown.
