Giants signed OF Chase Pinder to a minor league contract.

Pinder’s older brother, Chad, spent seven seasons in the Bay Area with Oakland from 2016 to 2022. The 27-year-old outfielder spent the last seven years in the Cardinals’ minor league system and posted a respectable .822 OPS with seven homers and eight steals in 294 plate appearances this past season between Double-A Springfield and Triple-A Memphis. He adds extra minor league outfield depth for San Francisco.

Dylan Crews

Nationals interim manager Miguel Cairo told reporters Friday that Crews (oblique) is getting closer to a rehab assignment.

Crews has been out of action since the middle of May with a left oblique strain, and it’s unlikely this will be a short rehab stint for the 23-year-old. Still, it’s a positive sign that one of the top young outfield talents in baseball is getting closer to a return. His numbers before the injury were less-than-desirable, but there’s enormous upside in Crews’ right-handed bat.

Derek Law

WSH Relief Pitcher #58

Derek Law underwent surgery to repair a tear in his flexor tendon and will miss the rest of the 2025 season.

Law will not only miss the remainder of this season, but is expected to not be ready until the middle of 2026. He’s a free agent after the conclusion of the 2025 campaign, so he’ll likely be looking at an incentive-laden deal with his new club or a reunion with the Nationals.

Steven Kwan

CLE Center Fielder #38

Steven Kwan is not in the starting lineup for Friday’s game against the Athletics.

Kwan will get a day off to open the second half of the season against the A’s. The 27-year-old rests with Nolan Jones handling left field and hitting fifth against southpaw JP Sears. Kwan should be back to hitting at the top of the lineup Saturday.

Alec Bohm

PHI 3rd Baseman #28

Alec Bohm (rib) is hitting fourth and playing third base versus the Angels on Friday.

Bohm is back after missing the previous two games with a bruised left rib cage. The 28-year-old will hit in the middle of the lineup, and appears to be ready to roll for the start of the second half.

Alexander was designated for assignment and went unclaimed. The 36-year-old is now free to find a new home, but is almost assuredly looking at another minor-league contract.

Pirates recalled INF Liover Peguero from Triple-A Indianapaolis.

Peguero is up to replace Adam Frazier now that Frazier is a member of the Royals. The 24-year-old isn’t guaranteed to get playing time — although in a rebuilding year they may choose to see what Peguero has to offer — and hasn’t had nearly enough success in the minors nor majors to suggest he’s worthy of a fantasy addition.

Enright takes the roster spot of Paul Sewald after Sewald was placed on the injured list prior to the All-Star break. Enright will give the Guardians a middle-inning option while he’s with the club.
