Jordan Montgomery recorded eight strikeouts and allowed three runs over six innings on Wednesday in a win over the Rockies.

Montgomery reeled off three hitless frames to open the contest and was handed a five-run lead by Arizona’s offense before the Rockies got to him for three runs over the next three frames. Fortunately, the Diamondbacks were able to supply him with enough offense to allow him to cruise to a relatively easy victory, his eighth of the season. He’ll bring a lackluster 6.25 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 63/35 K/BB ratio across 89 1/3 innings (18 starts) into a favorable road tilt on Tuesday against the Marlins.

Kyle Harrison will throw four innings of live batting practice on Saturday and is scheduled for a rehab start on July 31.

That would seem to put him in line to rejoin the Brewers rotation on Aug. 6. Harrison last pitched on July 8 before going on the IL with forearm tightness.

Tuesday’s game between the Pirates and Yankees was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Wednesday.

This will give Dennis Santana a little more time to cool off. Both teams have Thursday off, but they’ll play two tomorrow, with the makeup game starting at 7:05 p.m. EDT and the originally scheduled game being moved up from 1:35 to 1:05. Bubba Chandler and Will Warren had been scheduled to start tonight’s game. They should join Wednesday’s scheduled starters Mitch Keller and Gerrit Cole in pitching tomorrow, but the order might be changed up.

Twins recalled RHP Jack Anderson from Triple-A St. Paul.

Anderson, who was claimed off waivers from the Red Sox on July 11, will work in middle relief. He allowed three runs in eight innings for Boston earlier this year, and he had a 4.57 ERA over 61 innings while mostly starting games in Triple-A.

Twins optioned RHP Woo-Suk Go to Triple-A St. Paul.

Pitching in MLB for the first time, Go gave up four runs over four innings in four appearances for the Twins. He’s sticking on the 40-man for now, so he might get another chance at some point.

White Sox placed C Kyle Teel on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain.

It’s the third leg injury that Teel has suffered this year, joining the hamstring strain he sustained in the World Baseball Classic and the knee injury that came about while on a rehab assignment in May. He’d hit .190/.271/.317 in 19 games since returning in June. Drew Romo and Edgar Quero will resume sharing the catcher role in Chicago.

White Sox recalled C Edgar Quero from Triple-A Charlotte.

Quero had his just .230/.299/.295 in 15 games since being sent down, though that .594 OPS is still considerably better than his .486 OPS in 55 games before losing his spot. He’ll split time with Drew Romo while Kyle Teel is out.

The Red Sox could activate Ranger Suarez (groin) off the 15-day injured list before Wednesday’s game against the Orioles.

Boston determined it wanted to give Suarez at least one more day before activating Suarez as originally planned. This could in part be weather-related, as there’s a chance for heavy precipitation in Boston before/during Tuesday’s contest. Either way, it does appear Suarez not coming off the injured list is just a precautionary measure, and he should be back shortly.

    Braves released RHP Carlos Carrasco.

Carrasco is now free to find another opportunity, if he wants one. The 39-year-old was designated for assignment by Atlanta a whopping five times without being claimed, and it’s not impossible that they’ll look to re-sign him again if there’s a need for depth.

Red Sox recalled RHP Zack Kelly from Triple-A Worcester and placed him on the 60-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.

Kelly is now off the 40-man roster. The 31-year-old veteran would not be eligible to pitch for Boston until near the end of September, and it’s certainly likely that his 2026 season is over.

Ranger Suarez (groin) will not come off the injured list to start Tuesday’s game against the Orioles.

Instead, Eduardo Rivera will get the start. Interim manager Chad Tracy confirmed Monday that Suarez would be get the nod and come off the 15-day IL, but now fantasy managers will need to wait for an update to see when the 30-year-old will return to the mound. It’s worth noting that there is a chance for heavy rain Tuesday evening, and that certainly could be a factor into why the Red Sox are pushing Suarez.
