Lange allowed one hit and one walk as the Royals edged the Reds, 5-2. Lucas Erceg has struggled mightily as Kansas City’s closer lately, so there’s opportunity in this bullpen. Left-hander Daniel Lynch IV has been the team’s most effective reliever, but he worked the eighth before Lange entered. Lange had 26 saves for the Tigers back in 2023, but it would be a surprise if he fully took the role from here on out.

Vinnie Pasquantino

Vinnie Pasquantino went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, and two RBI as the Royals defeated the Reds 5-2 on Wednesday.

Pasquantino has yet to find the power stroke that launched 32 homers and drove in 113 runs a season ago. His barrel rate, bat speed, and fast swing rate are all noticeably down through two months of play. He has only missed four games and continues to bat in the heart of the Royals’ lineup.

Blake Dunn

Dunn’s homer was a two-run blast off Stephen Kolek that tied the game in the fifth. The Reds have cycled through leadoff hitters this season, but Dunn has occupied the spot in 10 of their past 11 contests. The lineup isn’t as dangerous without Elly De La Cruz, but it’s a nice role to have with a great home park to hit in and summer weather approaching.
