Astros placed RHP J.P. France to the 60-day injured list with a torn right shoulder capsule.
The 29-year-old right-hander is still in the process of recovering from last June’s surgery to repair a torn capsule in his pitching shoulder. If everything goes according to plan and he’s able to avoid any setbacks, France is expected to be ready to join the big league club around the All-Star break.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Francisco Lindor will undergo an MRI after being removed from Wednesday’s game against the Twins with left calf tightness.
Mendoza added that Lindor is unlikely to play in Thursday’s series finale against Minnesota and will undergo imaging to determine the severity of the issue. The 32-year-old franchise building block suffered the injury while scoring on Francisco Alvarez’s fourth-inning double. It certainly sounds like a trip to the injured list is in play. There should be some clarity on his status prior to Thursday’s contest. It would likely be a red-hot Ronny Mauricio coming up from Triple-A Syracuse to take Lindor’s roster spot, if he’s facing an extended absence.
Giolito profiles as fantasy SP streamer with SD
Eric Samulski examines the ripple effects from Lucas Giolito signing with the Padres, sharing why the veteran starting pitcher shapes up as a fantasy streaming option.
  • CHC Right Fielder #27
Seiya Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer on Wednesday, propelling the Cubs to a 7-2 win over the Phillies.
Suzuki ostensibly put the contest away with a fifth-inning blast against Phillies bulk reliever Taijuan Walker. The 31-year-old corner outfielder has gone deep in back-to-back contests after going 10 games without a big fly after coming off the injured list back on April 10.
  • PHI Left Fielder #12
Kyle Schwarber went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in Wednesday’s loss to the Cubs.
Schwarber has homered twice in his last three games, but he’s hitting just .143 (4-for-28) with three RBI over his last seven games. The Phillies have been abysmal in recent weeks and have scored the third-fewest runs in baseball this season. It’s not what you want. They’ll attempt to snap an eight-game losing streak during Thursday’s series finale.
  • CHC Center Fielder #4
Pete Crow-Armstrong went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI on Wednesday in a win over the Phillies.
Crow-Armstrong delivered a game-tying RBI double in the second inning before adding a run-scoring single in the eighth inning to close the scoring. The 24-year-old center fielder has started to heat up, batting .320 (8-for-25) with two RBI and one steal over his last seven games.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #16
Matthew Boyd struck out five and allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Phillies.
Boyd was lifted after 84 pitches (56 strikes) as the Cubs didn’t want to push him too far from a workload standpoint in his return from the injured list. The -year-old veteran southpaw generated 12 swinging strikes and gave up only five hits, falling just short of qualifying for a win in this one. He’ll bring a pedestrian 5.79 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 22/3 K/BB ratio across 14 innings into a road outing against the Padres on Monday.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #99
Taijuan Walker was charged with five runs — four earned — over four innings on Wednesday in long relief against the Cubs.
Putting an opener in front of Walker didn’t yield the results the Phillies were hoping for as he gave up eight hits, including homers to Michael Busch and Seiya Suzuki. Simply put, he’s not a recommended fantasy option moving forward.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #12
Casey Mize earned his third quality start and second win of the season on Wednesday against the Brewers, throwing six innings of one-run ball while striking out seven.
He walked three and allowed three hits, lowering his ERA to 2.51. Mize has been throwing more splitters this season, and the pitch is much improved. His strikeout minus walk rate was a career-best entering this start. Mize’s next scheduled start looks like a road trip to Atlanta, a tough one to trust him for despite the promising start to the year.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #74
Kenley Jansen earned his sixth save of the season in Wednesday’s 5-2 win over the Brewers.
He allowed two walks and a hit but struck out one over an inning of work. The 38-year-old has all but one of the Tigers’ saves this season. The only other belongs to Drew Anderson and was of the three-inning variety. What matters is that Jansen isn’t splitting ninth-inning chances with Kyle Finnegan or Will Vest. He’s a strong second closer at the moment, especially given the recent injuries and meltdowns at the position.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #39
Chad Patrick allowed four runs on six hits in four innings against the Tigers on Wednesday. He struck out two and walked one.
Patrick entered following two innings from opener DL Hall. It’s the second time in three appearances that he’s come out of the bullpen. He’s striking out far fewer hitters than last season. He’ll carry a 2.35 ERA (5.32 xFIP) into a home matchup against the Diamondbacks in his next outing.
  • DET Right Fielder #30
Kerry Carpenter went 1-for-4 with a solo shot in the Tigers’ 5-2 win over the Brewers on Wednesday.
The homer came in the eighth inning and gave Detroit an insurance run entering the final frame. Wednesday’s game was the first this season in which Carpenter started against a left-hander, even if it was a multi-inning opener scenario ahead of Chad Patrick. Carpenter now has five homers on the year, but he’s striking out over 36 percent of the time early on.
