Martin’s 6 2/3 innings against the Reds five days ago marked a new career high for him, but that didn’t last long. He was allowed to start the eighth down 1-0 tonight, and he retired one batter before being pulled after a single. Cam Booser took over and wound up surrendering a grand slam to add one run to Martin’s total and put the game out of reach for the White Sox. Martin fell to 2-5 while lowering his ERA to 3.49. It was nearly the third time in seven outings that the White Sox were shut out with him on the mound, but the team did come through with one run in the ninth. Martin will face the Rangers next time out.

The Twins and White Sox were locked in a 2-2 tie before Lee came up in the 11th inning. With the bases loaded, he roped a double to right field that drove in all three runs. The Twins would go on to win 5-3. Lee is hitting .259 with 23 runs, six home runs, 30 RBI and three stolen bases.

Murakami’s home run was his 19th. He hit a two-run shot off Joe Ryan to tied the game 2-2 in the eighth inning. Murakami is hitting just .234, but his power hitting remains elite. He has 39 runs scored and 39 RBI as well as a .917 OPS.

Marsh was 2-for-2 before leaving the contest in the fourth inning. It sounds like a possible injured list situation considering the nature of the injury. There should be some clarity on his status ahead of Wednesday’s contest.

Burke gave up three hits, two walks and struck out eight. He has a 3.90 ERA that’s mostly supported by his 4.08 xFIP. Burke is having a respectable season with 54 strikeouts in 60 innings. He can be used in the right matchups as a streaming option. Burke is lined up to face the Tigers at home this weekend.

Ryan gave up five hits, walked none and struck out nine. He’s had nine strikeouts in back-to-back starts. The only damage against Ryan came on a two-run home run by Munetaka Murakami in the eighth inning. Ryan has a 2.94 ERA. He’s lined up to face the Pirates on the road on Sunday.

Bowman joins Toronto’s injury-depleted pitching staff after being cut loose by the Twins last week after triggering the opt-out in his minor league deal. The 34-year-old journeyman has posted a strong 1.69 ERA and 25/6 K/BB ratio across 21 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season after making 20 appearances for the Orioles last year. He’s made 231 career appearances between seven different organizations since 2016.

Tong will take the ball after opener Huascar Brazobán on Wednesday night at Citi Field. The 22-year-old top prospect tossed three hitless innings with a pair of strikeouts in his season debut against the Marlins last Friday. There’s some clear streaming appeal in deeper mixed leagues based on his strikeout upside, especially against a Reds lineup that has been fairly pedestrian this season.

Mitchell’s home run was his third. He hit a three-run home run off Cardinals reliever Ryan Fernandez in the fifth inning. Mitchell continues to start in centerfield, but already has 60 strikeouts in 137 at-bats. He doesn’t have much value outside of deeper formats.

Bauers’ home run was his eighth of the season. He hit a solo shot off Michael McGreevy in the fourth inning. Bauers continues to produce, hitting .290 with an .858 OPS. He’ll continue to be a fixture in the lineup against right-handed pitching.

Both RBI came on a double to the left-center gap in the first. Suárez hit that one 103 mph, reached 104 mph on the single and also had a 97-mph groundout. That’s nice progress for a slugger who had just a 20 percent hard-hit rate in 108 plate appearances coming into the night. He’s usually around 40 percent and came in a career-best 48 percent last year.
