Kyle Tucker grounded out as a pinch-hitter Wednesday in his first action since jamming his ring finger Sunday.
The groundout with two men on ended the 2-0 loss to the Nationals. Still, hopefully this means he’ll be in Thursday’s lineup. Justin Turner has started in his place the last two days, with Seiya Suzuki shifting from DH to right field.

Dylan Beavers (oblique) resumed hitting earlier this week, according to Orioles manager Craig Albernaz.
It’s the first time Beavers has hit since landing on the shelf with a low-grade oblique strain back on May 13. The 24-year-old rookie outfielder figures to be ready to jump back into Baltimore’s lineup at some point in early-to-mid June.
    Sabathia digs into baseball superstitions
CC Sabathia and Ahmed Fareed weigh in on baseball superstitions, including ones from CC's playing days and a quirky routine he never forgot about one of his former teammates in New York.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #12
Casey Mize made an early exit from Wednesday’s start against the Angels with a trainer after four scoreless innings.
Mize walked off the mound extremely slowly at the conclusion of the fourth inning and didn’t come back out for the fifth. He was shown leaving Detroit’s dugout accompanied by a trainer. He struck out six and allowed just three baserunners over four shutout frames. It’s worth noting that he was in just his third start back from the injured list after missing time with a groin strain. There should be an additional update on his status shortly.
  • NYM 1st Baseman #11
Jorge Polanco (Achilles) kicked off a minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday with Double-A Binghamton.
Polanco’s return timeline remains a bit murky, but he’s going to need at least one or two weeks of rehab contests to get back up to speed following a six-week layoff recovering from Achilles bursitis and a right wrist contusion that put him on the shelf back on April 18. He went 1-for-2 with a single in his rehab debut on Wednesday afternoon. The 32-year-old first baseman will likely have to manage the Achilles issue for the remainder of the season but there’s optimism he’ll manage to avoid surgery.
  • LAD 2nd Baseman #76
Dodgers recalled INF Alex Freeland from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated that Freeland will receive more playing time than Hyeseong Kim while both are on the active roster. The 24-year-old infielder is back with Los Angeles after Enrique Hernández hit the injured list with a significant tear in his oblique muscle. He’s hit .235 (23-for-98) with two homers and eight RBI in 112 plate appearances over 33 games in the big leagues this season.
  • LAD 1st Baseman #8
Dodgers placed INF/OF Enrique Hernández on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.
It’s a brutal development for Hernández as he winds up back on the shelf after just two games back with the Dodgers following offseason elbow surgery. The versatile 34-year-old underwent an MRI that revealed a significant tear in his oblique muscle that figures to sideline him for at least a couple months.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #17
Shohei Ohtani (hand) is in the lineup at DH in addition to pitching on Wednesday against the Dodgers.
There was some minor concern after Ohtani was hit by a pitch on the right hand during Tuesday’s blowout win at Dodger Stadium, but he appears to be fine. The 31-year-old generational talent is in the lineup at DH while also handling his usual pitching duties in Wednesday’s series finale. It marks his second consecutive start back in his usual two-way role.
  • LAD 3rd Baseman #13
Max Muncy (wrist) is back in the lineup for Wednesday’s series finale against the Rockies.
Muncy is back at third base following a four-game absence after being hit by a pitch on the right wrist last Friday. The 35-year-old veteran dealt with some soreness and inflammation afterwards but initial X-rays ruled out any fractures. It’s a much-needed development for the Dodgers after losing Enrique Hernández (oblique) to the injured list during his absence.
  • COL 1st Baseman
TJ Rumfield (hand) is back in the lineup for Wednesday’s series finale against the Dodgers.
Rumfield is back at first base and hitting third during Wednesday’s series finale at Dodger Stadium after a brief one-game absence. The 26-year-old rookie standout, who has recorded an .809 OPS with seven homers and 27 RBI in 54 games this season, managed to avoid serious injury after being hit by a 97-mph fastball on the right hand during Monday’s series opener.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #61
Cristopher Sánchez extended his scoreless streak to 44 2/3 innings with seven scoreless frames Wednesday in the Phillies’ 3-0 shutout of the Padres.
Sánchez struck out nine. Manny Machado made a bid to end the scoreless streak in the sixth, but his drive to right-center was caught at the wall by Justin Crawford. Statcast says it would have been a homer in 16 ballparks. Sánchez’s May concludes without him allowing a run in 39 innings of work. He’s potentially two starts away from challenging Orel Hershiser’s record streak of 58 scoreless innings from 1988. He’s one inning away from matching Zack Greinke’s streak of 45 2/3 scoreless innings in 2015, which is the longest since Hershiser’s. He’ll face the Padres again next week in Philadelphia.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #46
José Alvarado worked a scoreless ninth for his first save of the year Wednesday against the Padres.
Jhoan Duran, Brad Keller and Orion Kerkering had all worked the previous two days, opening the door for Alvarado to get his first save chance. He hadn’t pitched in a week and he was scored on in his previous two outings, but he didn’t create much drama today, allowing only a Xander Bogaerts single before completing the Phillies’ 3-0 shutout.
