The 29-year-old outfielder elected free agency last week after refusing an outright assignment from the Braves to Triple-A Gwinnett. Before he was with the Braves, he had elected free agency after being DFA’d by the Mets after hitting .278 (5-for-18) over 12 games at the big league level. He’ll serve as extra outfield depth for the Mets at Triple-A Syracuse.

Soroka allowed three hits, walked two and struck out six for his eighth win. In 13 starts, he’s given up eight runs once, four runs twice and never more than two runs otherwise. That he’s become more of a flyball pitcher while throwing fewer sinkers should have resulted in him giving up more homers, but he’s allowed just five on 17 barrels so far. He’ll take a 3.28 ERA into his next start in Cincinnati.

Cavalli has been an above average starter to date because he’s kept the ball in the yard, but Corbin Carroll and Gabriel Moreno today became the fourth and fifth batters to take him deep this year. Only a modest groundball pitcher (his GB rate is 46 percent right now), he’s due to have less luck in the home run department going forward, though also probably more luck in the BABIP department, considering that he’s at .355 there at the moment. He’s quite intriguing for the long haul and quite fringy for the rest of 2026.

Moreno is hitting .309 with three homers, 12 RBI, 13 runs scored, three steals and nine walks in his last 19 games. He has a good case for being viewed as a top-10 fantasy catcher while healthy.

He grounded out in his only at-bat. Vargas hasn’t started a game since his nasty collision with Max Muncy on Thursday, but he has come off the bench in three straight games. It seems likely that he’ll be in the Arizona lineup on Tuesday after the off day Monday.

It seemed like Willits’ defense might have to carry him as a prospect initially, but he’s well ahead of schedule with the bat. He was hitting an impressive .299/.414/.497 with six homers and 28 steals as an 18-year-old in Low-A ball. He’ll probably be playing in Double-A as a 19-year-old by this time next season.

The 20-year-old Fitz-Gerald, who was acquired from the Rangers in the MacKenzie Gore trade, has been a big success in hitting .269/.377/.538 with 12 homers and 11 steals in the South Atlantic League this year. He’s still playing all over the infield at the moment, but he seems most likely to wind up at second base, and if he keeps progressing like this, he could see the majors in 2027.

Basallo was already dealing with abdominal discomfort coming into the game. Consider him questionable for Monday’s game against the Mariners.

Kurtz is up to 12 homers and seven steals to go along with a .276 average and a .923 OPS. His walk rate has exploded in his sophomore campaign, fueling the highest OBP in MLB so far this season. The absence of a high homer total is the only complaint fantasy managers might have, but opposing arms have seemingly decided to pitch around him any chance they get. Kurtz and the Athletics will return to hitter-friendly Sacramento for a 13-game homestand beginning Monday.

Jump struck out three and issued three walks in the outing, dropping his ERA to 2.45 through three starts in the big leagues. He’s now pitched into the seventh in back-to-back appearances, both of which came on the road. The 23-year-old rookie southpaw next lines up to face the Rockies at home. It kicks off a 13-game homestand in hitter-friendly Sacramento.

Burrows struck out three, walked two, and served up two homers in the outing. Nick Kurtz and Brent Rooker each took him deep, raising his ERA on the year to 5.77. Only Jameson Taillon has given up more homers than Burrows’ 17 this season. A change of scenery hasn’t helped him take the next step as a pitcher, and he’s a difficult arm to trust in fantasy next time out versus the Royals on the road.
