Jacob Latz allowed two runs over 4 1/3 innings in his start Wednesday against the Rangers.
Latz, who struck out five, should have been done after four in his first start in five weeks and third of the year, but the Rangers wanted to try to get him a win with an 11-1 lead after four. He went on to give up a Christian Moore homer before being lifted at 66 pitches. He’s expected to remain in the rotation in Nathan Eovaldi’s place, and he could be a streaming option at times in September. However, since he’s not really stretched out yet, it probably doesn’t make much sense to use him next week against the Diamondbacks.
