Braves optioned RHP Dane Dunning to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Dunning gave up three earned runs in 3 1/3 innings during his latest stint with the Braves. He’ll only be eligible to return this season if another pitcher lands on the injured list, so unless that happens, he’ll finish up with a 6.97 ERA in 20 2/3 innings between Texas and Atlanta.

Guardians activated RHP Andrew Walters from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Columbus.
Walters had already been stationed at Triple-A Columbus while recovering from surgery to repair a lat muscle strain. He’ll remains there until an opportunity arises at the big league level.
What has made Bleday so successful lately?
Eric Samulski discusses how Cincinnati Reds' J.J. Bleday has been "one of the hottest hitters in baseball" recently, going over key statistics that speak to his success and why fantasy managers should look out for him.
  • CIN Right Fielder #57
Reds designated OF Rece Hinds for assignment.
The Reds needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for the promotion of P.J. Higgins on Sunday and unfortunately for Hinds, he drew the short straw this time around. The 25-year-old outfielder slashed a pitiful .121/.167/.212 with an 18/1 K/BB ratio in 36 plate appearances for the Reds this season. There’s enough raw talent there that another team could show interest on waivers.
  • TOR 3rd Baseman #7
Kazuma Okamoto is absent from the Blue Jays’ lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Tigers.
It’s a rare day off for the 29-year-old slugger who has become a fixture in the middle of the Jays’ lineup. Okamoto is hitting .239/.326/.459 with 10 long balls and 27 RBI through his first 181 plate appearances in the big leagues. Ernie Clement will slide over and cover third base while Davis Schneider starts at second base and will bat ninth for the Jays.
  • TOR Designated Hitter #4
George Springer is not in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Sunday’s showdown against the Tigers in Motown.
The Blue Jays have played things cautiously in Springer’s return from a fractured toe, making sure to give him ample days off in order to rest. The 36-year-old slugger has seen a massive decline in his offensive production this season, slashing a woeful .194/.282/.306 with two homers, eight RBI and one stolen base in 111 plate appearances. Lenyn Sosa will start at first base and bat fifth while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. functions as the Jays’ designated hitter on Sunday.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #44
Brewers designated RHP Peter Strzelecki for assignment.
It was a whirlwind 24 hours for Strzelecki as he was promoted from Triple-A Nashville and then booted off of the 40-man roster without appearing in a game. There’s a decent chance that he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to serve as extra pitching depth for the Brewers.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #54
Brewers recalled LHP Robert Gasser from Triple-A Nashville.
As anticipated, the 26-year-old southpaw will make his season debut on Sunday against the Twins. In six starts at Triple-A Nashville, Gasser compiled a 3.74 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and a 32/8 K/BB ratio across 21 2/3 innings. He’s worth a look as a streaming option for Sunday’s start against the Twins, though he may not stick around in the Brewers’ rotation after this one.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #74
Reds recalled RHP Jose Franco from Triple-A Louisville.
Franco was optioned back to Triple-A at the end of last week when Nick Lodolo returned from the injured list. The 25-year-old hurler has posted a 4.30 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and a 12/11 K/BB ratio over 14 2/3 innings in his first eight appearances at the Major League level. Luis Mey was optioned to Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #47
Reds optioned RHP Luis Mey to Triple-A Louisville.
Mey has done a nice job in five appearances for the Reds this season, compiling a 3.38 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 13/5 K/BB ratio across eight innings. It shouldn’t take long for him to earn another opportunity with the big league club. Jose Franco was recalled from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move on Sunday.
  • CIN Catcher #96
Reds selected the contract of C P.J. Higgins from Triple-A Louisville.
Higgins had been designated for assignment and sent outright to Triple-A Louisville earlier in the week, but he’ll return with Jose Trevino (hamstring) heading right back to the injured list. Higgins has gone 2-for-10 (.200) in his limited action with the Reds this season. He’ll once again serve as the understudy to Tyler Stephenson.
  • CIN Catcher #35
Reds placed C Jose Trevino on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
Trevino suffered the injury during Saturday’s game against the Guardians. He’ll miss at least a couple of weeks. P.J. Higgins returned from Triple-A Louisville to serve as the Reds’ backup behind Tyler Stephenson.
