Twins designated OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. for assignment.
The Twins needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for the acquisition of Alex Jackson on Friday and unfortunately for Keirsey, he was the odd man out. The 28-year-old outfielder hit a paltry .107/.138/.179 with two homers, six RBI and a 33/2 K/BB ratio in 88 plate appearances with the Twins in 2025.

Dylan Beavers went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI on Sunday, propelling the Orioles to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Athletics.
Beavers led off the third inning with a double and scored the Orioles’ first run on an RBI single off the bat of Gunnar Henderson. He then came through with the biggest hit of the day, a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning that proved to be the difference in the contest. On the season, the 24-year-old outfielder is now hitting .243/.331/.369 with two homers and 12 RBI in his 119 plate appearances.
Marlins throw Nats off with pressure on basepaths
Matt Vasgersian, Jeff Nelson and Kevin Frandsen share their biggest takeaways from the Marlins' 5-2 win over the Nationals, where Miami used pressure on the basepaths to fuel their Mother's Day win over Washington.
  • DET Right Fielder #30
Tigers placed OF Kerry Carpenter on the 10-day injured list with a sprained left shoulder.
Gage Workman is replacing him on the roster. Carpenter was hurt Saturday while running into the side wall down the right field line on Bobby Witt Jr.'s inside-the-park homer. The Tigers will probably give Colt Keith more time at DH with Carpenter out, which would open up starts for Workman at third. Wenceel Pérez is also in line for some extra at-bats as a right fielder.
  • DET 3rd Baseman #41
Tigers selected the contract of INF/OF Gage Workman from Triple-A Toledo.
Workman spent time in the majors as a Rule 5 pick last year, going 3-for-14 with the Cubs and 0-for-2 with the White Sox, but he ended up being returned to the Tigers in May. He went unpicked in the latest Rule 5 draft over the winter, but now he’s getting another look after hitting .358/.413/.590 with four homers and 12 steals in 150 plate appearances for Toledo. After seeing considerable time in the outfield last year, he’s been strictly an infielder this season, starting 15 games at short, 11 at second and eight at third for Toledo. With Colt Keith likely to spend more time in the DH spot while Kerry Carpenter is out, the Tigers figure to give Workman starts at second and third against righties.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #35
Tigers transferred RHP Justin Verlander from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list.
Verlander will be eligible to return May 31 and might be ready around then after progressing to facing hitters this weekend. He’s been limited to one start this season by shoulder inflammation.
  • ATH Shortstop #5
Jacob Wilson will undergo imaging Monday after being diagnosed with a sprained left shoulder.
Wilson might be IL bound after leaving Sunday’s game. That would probably result in Darell Hernaiz getting a look at short in Sacramento, with Michael Stefanic being added from Triple-A.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #50
Rico Garcia closed out the Athletics on Sunday afternoon, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a one-run advantage.
Garcia got Jonah Heim on strikes to open the frame and then got Carlos Cortes on a line drive to center. He made things a bit more interesting by issuing a two-out walk to Lawrence Butler, but rebounded to get Zack Gelof to pop out to shortstop to end it. The 32-year-old hurler has been brilliant on the season with a 0.50 ERA, 0.44 WHIP and a 20/7 K/BB ratio over his first 17 innings. He’ll continue to hold down the fort in the ninth inning until Ryan Helsley is healthy.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #40
Chris Bassitt was terrific during Sunday’s victory over the Athletics, allowing just one run on four hits over six stellar frames.
The 37-year-old hurler racked up six strikeouts on the day while allowing only one base on balls. He got into a major jam in the second inning as the A’s put runners on the corners with no outs, but Bassitt was able to wiggle out of it with just one run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Carlos Cortes. He got 14 whiffs on 94 offerings in the contest, posting a strong CSW of 32 percent. Now 3-2 on the season, he’ll look to further improve upon his 5.21 ERA and 1.74 WHIP when he does battle against the Nationals in Washington on Saturday.
  • ATH Right Fielder #26
Carlos Cortes drove in the Athletics’ lone run and swiped a base during Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Orioles.
Cortes hit a sacrifice fly off of Chris Bassitt in the second inning to open the scoring in the ballgame. He then singled in the seventh inning and swiped second base, but was cut down at the plate on a perfect throw from Leody Taveras with what would have been the tying run. He finished the afternoon 1-for-3 and is now hitting a blistering .355/.408/.570 with four homers, 15 RBI and one stolen base in 103 plate appearances on the season.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher #40
Luis Severino pitched well in a losing effort against the Orioles on Sunday afternoon, allowing just two runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Severino struck out four batters on the day, though he also issued four free passes. The Orioles scratched out single runs against him in the third and sixth innings, though Severino was able to limit the damage each time despite a parade of baserunners. He got seven whiffs on 102 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll carry an uninspiring 4.07 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and a 47/29 K/BB ratio (48 2/3 innings) into a nice matchup against the Giants on Saturday.
  • LAA Right Fielder #7
Jo Adell hit two homers in Sunday’s 6-1 Mother’s Day victory over the Blue Jays.
It was part of a three-hit day for Adell, and the two long balls brought him up to six on the season. Amid the slower start, he’s remained in the Angels’ lineup every day. His bat speed remains one of the game’s best while his swing-and-miss profile breeds more volatility than desired.
