Teoscar Hernández hit a three-run homer to help the Dodgers to a win over the Rangers on Saturday.
Hernández hit one of two homers off Jack Leiter in the first inning — the other by some guy named Ohtani — and it gave the Dodgers’ a 4-1 lead. The 33-year-old slugger has gone deep three times while driving in 11 runs over the first 14 games. Hernández hasn’t shown a lick of consistency over the past two seasons, but when he’s hot, there aren’t all that many better.

Padres activated RHP Matt Waldron from the 15-day injured list.
The 29-year-old knuckleballer will rejoin the Padres to start on Friday night against the Angels. Waldron made three starts at Triple-A El Paso on his minor league rehab assignment, hurling 12 scoreless innings with a 0.67 WHIP and a 12/1 K/BB ratio. He’s worth a look as a streaming option in deeper mixed leagues for Friday’s matchup against the Halos.
Baldwin scorching to start the season for Atlanta
James Schiano discusses Drake Baldwin's hot start to the season and the metrics that show why he may challenge Cal Raleigh for the best hitting catcher.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #37
Padres optioned RHP Alek Jacob to Triple-A El Paso.
The Padres needed to free up a spot on their active roster for the return of Matt Waldron on Friday and unfortunately for Jacob he drew the short straw this time around. The 27-year-old hurler made one appearance during his time with the Padres, firing two scoreless frames with a 3/1 K/BB ratio. He should get another opportunity with the Padres in relatively short order.
  • BAL Catcher #35
Adley Rutschman (ankle) told reporters on Friday that he’s feeling much improved.
He still isn’t sure when he’ll return, but he has been running and going through drills without any issues over the past couple of days. He’s eligible to return from the injured list on Tuesday and there’s growing optimism that he could be ready then or shortly afterwards. Samuel Basallo and Maverick Handley will continue to handle the catching duties in his absence.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #50
Brewers optioned RHP Easton McGee to Triple-A Nashville.
McGee pitched a scoreless inning in his one appearance with the Brewers this year. He’ll continue to shuttle around Nashville and Milwaukee for most of the season, in all likelihood.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #72
Brewers recalled RHP Coleman Crow from Triple-A Nashville.
He’ll draw the start today for the Brewers against the Marlins in what will be his MLB debut. Crow had a 4.02 ERA in three games with the Sounds so far in 2026, striking out 18 in 15 2/3 innings pitched.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #20
Astros selected the contract of RHP Peter Lambert from Triple-A Sugar Land.
Lambert had a 3.98 ERA in 124 1/3 innings with the Yakult Swallows in NPB last year, and had worked two impressive starts with the Space Cowboys to the tune of a 3.84 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings early in the season. He’ll get the start for the Astros tonight against the Cardinals. He’s not a recommended streamer at this time.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #82
Astros optioned RHP Christian Roa to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Roa had allowed runs in each of his last three appearances, though in fairness he was used as a long reliever and asked to go multiple innings in all of them. The Astros opted for Peter Lambert instead. Roa will try to get back on track with the Space Cowboys.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #71
Astros placed LHP Josh Hader on the 60-day injured list with left biceps tendinitis.
It clears a 40-man spot for Peter Lambert. Hader hasn’t pitched yet this year and, judging by this placement, would not appear to be particularly close to returning. We’re assuming he’ll get his closer role back when he returns, but he just threw to live hitters for the first time on Tuesday.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #64
Nationals optioned RHP Orlando Ribalta to Triple-A Rochester.
Your reward for getting a 10th-inning save last night? Rochester. Richard Lovelady will be active for the Nationals tonight and this is the corresponding move for getting him on to the roster.
  • TB Shortstop #6
Taylor Walls is not in Tampa Bay’s starting lineup against the Pirates on Friday.
Ben Williamson draws the start at shortstop. This has the look of a routine day off for the starter at shortstop. Walls is hitting .310/.375/.345 in nine games since returning from the injured list.
