Bo Bichette went 0-for-4 with a strikeout against the Cubs in Sunday’s loss.
Bichette crushed a 111.5-mph liner to center in the fourth today, but Pete Crow-Armstrong caught it pretty easily. It was the hardest-hit ball of the season for Bichette, so that’s something. Still, it hasn’t really been exit velocity that’s been his problem to date; that he’s striking out and hitting grounders more than usual are his issues. He’s also seemingly been pretty unlucky; he entered today with a .227 average but a .290 xBA.

Blue Jays optioned RHP Chase Lee to Triple-A Durham.

CC Sabathia and Ahmed Fareed discuss CC's Superlatives from the first month of the season including best dressed, most team spirit, rookie most likely to succeed, most athletic player and much more.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #39
Blue Jays activated RHP Trey Yesavage off the 15-day injured list.
Yesavage is back to make the start Tuesday against the Red Sox. The 22-year-old was a breakout star for Toronto in both the regular and postseason, and while he likely will be working on a strict pitch/inning count early on, his ability to miss bats makes him a very intriguing option going forward.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #21
Hunter Greene (elbow) has begun throwing from 110 feet away.
Greene is not expected to be ready to pitch until July, and Charlie Goldsmith of FOX19 in Cincinnati reports that the 26-year-old is about three weeks away from throwing bullpen sessions. Because of his ability to miss bats, Greene is worth holding onto even with the long delay.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #40
Nick Lodolo (blister) will make a rehab start on Saturday.
Lodolo worked five scoreless innings in his previous rehab start for High-A Dayton on Sunday. The 28-year-old will have a good chance of rejoining the Cincinnati rotation if there are no setbacks before/after that rehab appearance.
  • MIN Right Fielder #38
Matt Wallner is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Mariners.
Wallner has really struggled to begin the season, striking out in 37 percent of his plate appearances and forging a .172/.274/.290 slash. The 28-year-old outfielder will get a break with Austin Martin getting the start in right field against Logan Gilbert and the M’s.
  • TEX 3rd Baseman #39
Rangers signed INF Diego Castillo to a minor league contract.
Castilo, 28, will join the Rangers from Mexican League club Los Algodoneros del Unión Laguna. He last played in the majors in 2024 for the Minnesota Twins. He’ll be a depth piece for Texas, and the Rangers will need to add him to the 40-man roster if they deem him worthy of an MLB call-up.
  • CLE 2nd Baseman #34
Guardians optioned INF Juan Brito to Triple-A Columbus.
Brito is down, Travis Bazzana is up. Brito struggled in his 51 at-bats with the Guardians as seen in a .176 average and .505 OPS. The 24-year-old is considered one of the better hitting prospects in Cleveland’s system, and he should get another shot at some point this year.
  • CLE 2nd Baseman #87
Guardians selected the contract of INF Travis Bazzana from Triple-A Columbus.
Bazzana will make his MLB debut Tuesday against the Rays in Tampa Bay and hit seventh while starting at second base. The 23-year-old was hitting .287/.4221/;511 with two homers and eight steals prior to the promotion. Bazzana doesn’t project to be a superstar and may deal with some struggles to begin his career — many top prospects do — but he’s worthy of consideration for those who may need middle-infield help.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #55
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Carlos Rodón (elbow) will make “at least two more rehab starts.”
Rodón was up to 65 pitches in his last rehab outing, so the thought was that the Yankees would let him throw one more time on Thursday and then potentially rejoin the rotation. It seems like he’ll make one more rehab start next week, probably on Tuesday the 5th or Wednesday the 6th, and then return to the Yankees the week of May 11th.
  • CHC Catcher #25
The Athletic’s Patrick Mooney reports that the Cubs are “accelerating the catching program for” Moisés Ballesteros.
The 22-year-old rookie has put up video game numbers as a hitter this season, and the Cubs have decided that they can no longer keep slow-playing his development behind the plate. Ballesteros got his first start this season behind the plate in Monday night’s 9-7 loss to the Padres. According to Mooney, “Ballesteros has been engaged in the process, catching bullpen sessions, doing throwing drills, and participating in meetings,” so the Cubs will now try to get him more game reps. Cubs manager Craig Counsell would not commit to those reps being regular, so it remains unclear how soon Ballesteros will gain catcher eligibility in fantasy leagues where he doesn’t yet have it.
