Keider Montero pitched decently in a no-decision against the Reds on Sunday, surrendering three runs on five hits across five innings of work.
Montero punched out five batters on the afternoon while issuing two free passes. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Nathaniel Lowe launching a solo shot in the second inning and JJ Bleday adding another in the fourth. Montero generated 10 swings and misses on 86 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 29 percent. He now sits at 1-2 on the season with a 4.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 23/5 K/BB ratio over 27 innings in his first five starts. He’ll do battle against the Rangers his next time out at home on Saturday.

Giants manager Tony Vitello told reporters Daniel Susac (elbow) is likely to return later this week.
Susac has been on the shelf recovering from right elbow neuritis since April 21. The 24-year-old rookie backstop will take over as San Francisco’s starting catcher after Patrick Bailey was shipped to the Guardians in a stunning early-season trade last weekend.
Twins' Ober worth streaming in 'right matchups'
Though he's fresh off a complete game shutout, Bailey Ober's underlying metrics suggest he shouldn't be relied on as a set-and-forget fantasy start, but rather as a streamer in ideal matchups.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #31
Tyler Glasnow (back) played catch on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium.
It was Glasnow’s first time throwing since hitting the injured list with lower back spasms over the weekend. The 32-year-old upper-echelon fantasy starter isn’t expected to require a lengthy absence but there isn’t a firm timetable for his return yet. There should be a better idea once he ramps up his throwing program in the near future.
  • FA Right Fielder #22
Jason Heyward is joining the Dodgers front office as a special assistant, according to Maddie Lee of the Los Angeles Times.
Heyward announced his retirement after a 16-year career at the conclusion of spring training. The 36-year-old was a key member of the squad that ended a 108-year World Series drought for the Chicago Cubs in 2016. He spent parts of two seasons with the Dodgers from 2023-2024.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #21
Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) is a candidate to start Sunday’s game against the Dodgers.
Rodriguez looked sharp while piling up 11 punchouts over 4 2/3 innings last weekend in a rehab start for Low-A Rancho Cucamonga. The oft-injured 26-year-old appears likely to make his Angels debut after missing the first seven weeks of the year recovering from a shoulder ailment. He’s certainly talented enough to make a fantasy impact, but a wait-and-see approach makes sense since he hasn’t thrown a pitch in the big leagues since July 31, 2024.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #56
Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow) remains shut down from throwing.
Braves manager Walt Weiss told reporters they’e hoping Schwellenbach is cleared to start a throwing program soon. The dynamic 25-year-old righty has been on the shelf since undergoing surgery to remove bone spurs from his pitching elbow back in mid-February. He likely won’t be an option for Atlanta’s rotation until after the All-Star break.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #77
Joe Jiménez underwent another knee surgery last month, according to Braves manager Walt Weiss.
Jiménez hasn’t pitched in the majors since the 2024 season and remains without a timeline to return. The 31-year-old reliever missed all of last year recovering from knee surgery and underwent a cleanup procedure last November. He’ll be a free agent at the end of the year.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #35
Garrett Crochet (shoulder) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday.
Crochet progressed to throwing off a bullpen mound for the first time since hitting the injured list back on April 29. The 26-year-old fantasy ace will throw another bullpen session later this week before he’s ready to face hitters again. He told reporters that he doesn’t plan on making a minor league rehab start. The original expectation was that he would be ready to jump back into Boston’s rotation when first eligible to return, but that doesn’t appear to be happening anymore. Still, there’s a chance he’s ready to return by the end of May or early June.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #34
Kodai Senga (back) threw a bullpen session on Wednesday.
Senga remains pretty far off from making it back to New York’s pitching mix as he recovers from lumbar spine inflammation. The fact that he’s made it through a couple bullpen sessions is encouraging. The 33-year-old’s role upon returning also remains a complete mystery since there doesn’t appear to be an open rotation spot for him.
  • BAL Right Fielder #12
Dylan Beavers has been diagnosed with a low-grade right oblique strain.
Orioles manager Craig Albernaz offered a positive update after Beavers hit the injured list prior to Wednesday’s game against the Yankees with an oblique strain. The 24-year-old rookie outfielder is facing a multi-week absence, but it sounds like there’s optimism it won’t be a lengthy stint on the injured list.
  • HOU Shortstop #3
Jeremy Peña (hamstring) is dealing with neck soreness.
Peña was involved in a frightening-looking collision at second base where he was upended and landed on his back during his first rehab contest on Tuesday night at Double-A Corpus Christi. Amazingly, he managed to stay in the contest afterwards. He’ll continue participating in baseball activities, but he’s going to get some time off to rest and recover following the incident. It doesn’t sound like he’ll make it back to Houston’s lineup this week.
