As Passan notes, Paredes has only one more year of team control, but his free agency lines up with Jeremy Peña’s free agency, and it’s unlike that the Astros will keep both players. Paredes can play both infield spots and would be an interesting target if the Astros decided to move on from him in two weeks.

Whatever that means. It’s nice to hear that Stanton is “actually” doing well, but we don’t know what “a reasonable amount of time” is and it’s unclear if Boone does either. Stanton has had a few setbacks since first landing on the IL back in April and it’s unclear when he will return.

That may not seem like a lot, but Passan notes that it’s a major change from previous trade deadlines. Neto is under team control for three more seasons, so trading him could net the Angels a haul of prospects to help expedite a rebuild and fill out a depleted organization with young talent. A few teams, including the Red Sox, Braves and Yankees, have already reached out to the Angels.

Miller is one of the best closers in baseball and has three more years of team control, so the Padres will not force a trade, but moving Miller would enable them to attach Xander Bogaert’s out-sized salary, which Passan notes would interest the Padres. That puts San Diego “in a position to dangle the best reliever in baseball and see what kind of bites they get.”

The plan is for Fried to throw 60 pitches in a rehab appearance Triple-A on Tuesday. Assuming he responds well to that outing, his next start will come with the Yankees. The left-hander has been sidelined with a bone bruise since late May, so the Yankees will be excited to have him back in the fold.

Mize was experiencing groin tightness in his start on Sunday, but also took a comebacker off his wrist. The throwing session on Monday was to ensure that both injuries didn’t impact his throwing. According to reports, Mize felt fine and plans to continue with his normal pre-start routine before starting on Saturday against the Royals.

Mayer landed on the injured list with a stress reaction in his left forearm. He was allegedly playing through the injury for two months, which may have impacted his performance on the field. It may just be a couple of weeks before Mayer could begin a rehab assignment, but his role in Boston for the remainder of the season remains to be seen. The team has been thriving, and they have multiple options in the infield with Romy Gonzalez back and Anthony Seigler and Tsung-Che Cheng providing value. The Red Sox could opt to keep Mayer in Triple-A to get consistent at-bats until rosters expand in September.

Kiner-Falefa has been on the injured list for a month with left forearm inflammation, so he has missed all the fun in Boston. The veteran utilityman will likely need a couple more weeks before he can begin a rehab assignment. However, while he has been out, not only have the Red Sox been on fire, but Romy Gonzalez has returned from the injured list, and Trevor Story has started to progress in his recovery from sports hernia surgery. There may not be much of a role for Kiner-Falefa to return to.

Sánchez has been out with a right ankle sprain since the end of June. He was hitting .274/.316/.437 with seven homers and 29 RBI through 234 plate appearances over 73 games for the Blue Jays and would be welcomed back in their lineup. However, he could also make for an attractive trade chip considering he has one year of team control left through arbitration and will make over $7 million next season.
