Garcia returns to Kansas City’s lineup following a three-game absence due to elbow soreness. The 26-year-old third baseman was able to come off the bench during Sunday’s series finale, so it’s not a massive surprise to see him back at the hot corner in this one.

Bennett was solid in his big league debut, firing five innings of one-run ball while striking out three. The rookie made it through the first two innings unscathed, but gave up a leadoff homer to Carlos Correa to start the third inning, giving the Astros a 1-0 lead. It would be the only run Bennett would surrender in the inning, as the leap from Triple-A to the majors didn’t appear too overwhelming. If he sticks around for a while, he would be in line to face the Tigers on Wednesday in Detroit.

Baker made it through his portion of the Giants’ lineup in order, pushing his save total on the season to eight. It was Baker’s first save since April 27th, as the Rays appeared to limit his workload this past week after he notched three saves over four days. As long as he’s able to go, he remains a safe bet to be on the mound in the ninth to close things out for the Rays.

Díaz got the best of Giants starter Robbie Ray in the second inning when he took him deep to right-center for a solo homer, giving the Rays the early 1-0 advantage. It was the fifth homer of the season for Díaz, who has homered twice in his last five games while going 5-for-16 at the plate over that span. We wouldn’t expect this little power surge to be an indicator of things to come for Díaz, who has just two 20-plus homer seasons on his resumé, but he remains a solid option at the plate hitting behind Chandler Simpson and Junior Caminero.

Caminero put the second run on the board for the Rays in the bottom of the fourth inning when he sent a Robbie Ray fastball 431 feet into left field to put his team up 2-0 over the Giants. It was the ninth homer of the season for Caminero, who had gone five-straight games without an extra-base hit entering Friday.

Ray pitched a scoreless first inning but was taken deep by Yandy Díaz in the bottom of the second inning, giving the Rays an early 1-0 lead. He would again fall victim to the long ball in the fourth inning, giving up a solo blast to Junior Caminero to give the Rays a 2-0 lead, and hand a third run added to his line in the sixth inning when Chandler Simpson put a ball in the air to drive home Taylor Walls on a sacrifice fly. Ray was in command of the strike zone all night and has now allowed three or fewer runs in every start this season. He’ll hope for a little more help from his offense in his next outing, which is scheduled for Wednesday against the Padres.

McClanahan was solid on the mound all night. The lefty didn’t allow a free baserunner on the evening, and saw only one of his four hits allowed go for extra bases. McLanahan has not allowed a run in either of his last two starts and lowered his ERA on the season to 3.10 with Friday’s performance. He’ll look to continue his hot streak on Wednesday when he is scheduled to face the Blue Jays at home in Tampa.

It’s terrific news to hear that the exit wasn’t arm-related. It sounds like he’ll undergo additional testing to make sure that it’s just a cramp and that there isn’t anything more serious going on, but it sounds like a best-case scenario here. Look for the Brewers to provide another update on his status on Saturday.

It’s unclear when exactly the injury occurred. Before exiting, he gave the Rays an early 1-0 advantage with an opposite-field home run in the second inning. The Rays are calling him day-to-day for the time being, though there should be an update on his status from skipper Kevin Cash after the game concludes.

This one didn’t look good. Misiorowski was working on a no-hitter with one out in the sixth inning against the Nationals and was visited by the training staff following a pitch to James Wood. A long discussion ensued and the decision was ultimately made to pull the prized 24-year-old right-hander. The Brewers should have an update on his status shortly. Stay tuned.

Nimmo had been 2-for-2 with a walk and a pair of runs scored in the contest, but he felt his hamstring pull at him again after singling in the fourth inning and was lifted for a pinch-runner. While he continues to say it’s a manageable injury, perhaps the Rangers would be better served with a short stint on the injured list to make sure that he gets right.
