Ryan Waldschmidt delivered a pinch-hit single on Friday in his major-league debut against the Mets.
Waldschmidt came off the bench to rip a 95.9-mph single to left field in the eighth inning of Friday’s loss. The 23-year-old corner outfielder is going to strike out at a healthy clip as he acclimates to facing big-league arms for the first time, but he offers enough fantasy-relevant tools, including an intriguing power/speed combo, to warrant a speculative roster spot in all leagues. He was hitting .289/.400/.477 with three homers and six steals in 34 games at the Triple-A level this season. He figures to play everyday for Arizona moving forward.

Jack Kochanowicz surrendered seven runs -- six earned -- with no strikeouts over four innings in a loss against the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Kochanowicz stranded four runners across three scoreless innings before the Blue Jays got on the board with one run in the fourth. Toronto completely broke through in the fifth, tagging Kochanowicz for six more runs, five earned, knocking him from the game before recording an out in the inning. The 25-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.97 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and a 30/23 K/BB ratio across 45 1/3 innings. He’ll look to bounce back in a tough matchup against the Dodgers in Anaheim on Friday.
Cubs would be 'in shambles' without Imanaga
James Schiano discusses Shota Imanaga's performance against the Cincinnati Reds and how the pitcher has shaken off a rough end to the 2025 season.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #56
Zach Pop, on the IL since Apr. 16 with a strained right calf, is beginning a rehab assignment in Triple-A on Saturday.
Pop allowed three runs in 7 1/3 innings before getting hurt. He’s out of options, so he’ll have a bullpen spot once the Phillies are satisfied with his rehab progress.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #50
Bryce Miller will come off the IL to start Wednesday, with the Mariners going to a six-man rotation next time through.
The Mariners are playing 14 games in 14 days, so one time through with a six-man rotation shouldn’t hurt. After that, they’ll probably need to demote Luis Castillo or Emerson Hancock, with Castillo-to-the-bullpen seeming like the obvious move at this point. Miller has been showing the best velocity of his career in his return from an oblique injury. There’s no guarantee he’ll be effective right away against the Astros next week, but he should offer mixed-league value over the rest of the season.
  • CWS Left Fielder #23
Andrew Benintendi was scratched from Saturday’s starting lineup due to neck stiffness.
Benintendi was set to DH and batting sixth. Randal Grichuk replaced him in the lineup, just because the White Sox feel the need to play one nominal outfielder whose best year came pre-COVID.
  • AZ Relief Pitcher #63
Justin Martinez, who is making his way back from Tommy John surgery, threw his first bullpen session Friday and reportedly was in the upper-90s.
“I heard it was electric,” manager Torey Lovullo said. Martinez might rejoin the mix for saves in the D-backs bullpen in in July. However, A.J. Puk, another contender for ninth-inning duties, is expected to beat him back.
  • ATL Shortstop #2
Jorge Mateo is back at shortstop for Saturday’s game against the Dodgers.
Mateo was limited to bench work for a couple of days due to a jammed thumb. He’s getting the nod over Jim Jarvis tonight.
  • SF 3rd Baseman #26
Matt Chapman has been dropped to seventh in the Giants lineup for Saturday’s game against the Pirates.
Heliot Ramos is up to third. Chapman had hit sixth once and somewhere between second and fifth the rest of the time this year. Chapman is batting just .227/.301/.305 this year, with a 32 percent hard-hit rate way off his career mark of 48 percent. Plus, he’s never been a particularly good RBI guy even in his better seasons. Still, he’ll warm up and resume hitting higher at some point. Unless Rafael Devers is back, there just isn’t much difference in quality among the top seven hitters in San Francisco’s lineup.
  • NYY Center Fielder #78
Spencer Jones is starting in center field and batting seventh against Brewers lefty Kyle Harrison on Saturday.
King of interesting. Lefties have been far better than righties against Harrison this season, but it’s Trent Grisham that Jones is starting over here, not a righty like Amed Rosario or Paul Goldschmidt. If the Yankees actually believed in Harrison’s reverse splits, Grisham and Ryan McMahon wouldn’t be on the bench to begin the game.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #62
Giants placed RHP Logan Webb on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 6, with right knee bursitis.
Webb was expected to make his next start Monday after dealing with the knee last time out, but given his struggles this season, a two-start break seems like a better idea. Trevor McDonald will fill in for him Monday against the Dodgers.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #72
Giants recalled RHP Trevor McDonald from Triple-A Sacramento.
McDonald made his 2026 debut last week, allowing one run over seven innings against the Padres. He was sent down afterwards, but Logan Webb’s IL placement allows him to rejoin the roster, and he’ll start in Webb’s place Monday against the Dodgers.
