Rodriguez, who had never had a complete game in 242 career starts, was supposed to be done after eight, but he talked manager Torey Lovullo into sending him back out. He just couldn’t do so for a second time after giving up a weak flyball single with one out in the ninth. It was just the fourth hit allowed by Rodriguez. He only had four strikeouts and six whiffs on 48 swings, but he obviously didn’t need them against the lineup the Mets are currently running out against lefties. At 4-0 with a 2.25 ERA on the season, he might seem like a reasonable pickup, but we still dislike the career-low 16.5 percent strikeout rate and the career-high 11 percent walk rate. He’ll face the Rockies in Coors next weekend.

It’ll be Manoah’s second appearance for the Angels after he threw a scoreless inning Friday against the Blue Jays. He gave up five earned runs in 4 1/3 innings in his one minor league start before being activated from the injured list last week.

Pinch-hitting for Zack Short in the sixth, Workman homered off Nick Mears with a man on to make it a 5-3 game. He hit that fly 383 feet and then had an impressive flyout at 106 mph in his second and final at-bat. That one had an xBA of .840. A left-handed hitter, Workman wasn’t going to start against the lefty Noah Cameron tonight, but he was doing well enough in Triple-A (.358/.413/.590) that he really should get a look here with Kerry Carpenter out. He’ll probably start at least a couple of games during the Mets series that begins Tuesday.

Jansen closed out a bullpen game which featured six Tigers pitchers, with none of them throwing more than 2 1/3 innings. It’s Jansen’s seventh save of the year and 483rd all-time.

He was lifted after Kevin McGonigle singled to start the fifth. John Schreiber, though, was able to strand the runner. Cameron hadn’t pitched since Apr. 30 because of back tightness. His latest subpar effort leaves him with a 5.55 ERA. The league is batting .300 against him. It seems quite possible that he’ll be replaced by Stephen Kolek after Cole Ragans comes off the injured list.

Garcia, Bobby Witt Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino combined to go 7-for-11 from the top three spots in the Royals order tonight, but everyone else was 1-for-21 in the 6-3 loss. Garcia is hitting .285/.353/.437 on the season, but because the Royals aren’t hitting, it hasn’t led to a ton of fantasy value just yet.

Great news for Florida State League hitters. The 19-year-old Hernandez was simply overwhelming them with 50 strikeouts and 13 hits allowed in 28 innings. His ERA stood at 0.96.

The third run he scored was the winning run in the 12th, though he achieved that by grounding out softly with the bases loaded to end the 11th. Before that, Ramos collected his fourth homer and 10th double. His .743 OPS ranks second to Casey Schmitt on the Giants, and he’s first on the team with 17 runs scored and tied with Schmitt for first in RBI with 18. It’d be nice if he played better defense in left, but he hasn’t been one of the Giants’ problems this season.

Mahle fanned eight, beating his previous season high for strikeouts by two. However, he also gave up two homers. He’s allowed a total of eight homers on the season, but oddly enough, they’ve all come between three of his eight starts. He wasn’t involved in the decision today, so he stays 1-4 with a 5.18 ERA. A tough road start in Sacramento is next on his schedule.

He had to deal with a Ryan O’Hearn error to start the inning, but he induced a double-play ball after the first walk and then got a flyout to end the inning. Keaton Winn again entered early today, getting three outs between the sixth and seventh. Joel Peguero might have closed if the Giants had taken a lead. He pitched a scoreless ninth and then was charged with two runs, including the automatic runner, while getting one out in the 10th. With Ryan Walker officially out of the picture, Kilian is probably the most rosterable reliever in the Giants pen right now. However, Erik Miller should also enter that mix when he comes off the IL.

Chandler reigned in the walks today, issuing just one. However, he also wound up with only three strikeouts and a 22 percent CSW. The Pirates ended up dropped to 2-6 in his starts, in part because they have to ask for four or five innings from the pen every time he pitches. He’ll almost certainly get better, but he’s been quite the liability through eight turns. He’ll pitch at home against the Phillies next.
