This article aims to highlight some of the best NBA DFS Plays at every position for your cash game lineups. Keep in mind that the following player write-ups were constructed earlier in the day, and sometimes injury/rest situations can alter the fantasy landscape. Monitoring our NBA News & Headlines Feed throughout the day will keep you in the loop while giving you the subsequent DFS consequences of each information piece.
We’ll take a look at the nine-game main slate starting at 7:00 ET on Wednesday.
POINT GUARD
Jalen Brunson - Dallas (vs. Boston)
As you probably know, Luka Doncic is sidelined with an ankle injury. Brunson has soaked up his playing time over the past two games, averaging 33 minutes and 35 fantasy points in those contest. That’s a fair baseline projection, representing a strong value selection with the price lagging behind his uptick in production. The matchup doesn’t look good on paper, but Brunson’s expanded opportunity tip the scales towards a strong fantasy return.
Also Consider: Kyle Lowry, Jeff Teague
SHOOTING GUARD
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - Oklahoma City (vs. Memphis)
Gilgeous-Alexander has been subpar over his past three games, and posting only 12 fantasy points through 34 minutes vs. Chicago on Monday doesn’t inspire much confidence. However, SGA’s salary has been marked-down as a result, and now is the time to buy low. Gilgeous-Alexander only needs an average game (30 FPPG) to return serviceable value, and there’s a good chance that will happen vs. Memphis - who ranks 25th in defensive efficiency to point guards.
Also Consider: Jimmy Butler, Andrew Wiggins, Josh Hart
SMALL FORWARD
Carmelo Anthony - Portland (vs. Golden State)
I didn’t think I’d be writing up Carmelo Anthony as a top DFS option this season, but here we are. “Melo” has been soaking up more scoring opportunities in his last two games, hitting 42 and 48 fantasy points as a result. His salary still lies in the mid-range category despite that uptick. Anthony’s minutes seem more stabilized with Rodney Hood out, and Mario Hezonja is questionable as well. Anthony could continue to thrive against a Golden State team that ranks 26th in defensive efficiency.
Also Consider: Troy Brown Jr., Derrick Jones Jr.
POWER FORWARD
Kristaps Porzingis - Dallas (vs. Boston)
Davis Bertans is one of my favorite “per dollar” plays at the power forward position, and I’ll be trying to roster him alongside Kristaps Porzingis. The Dallas big man could see more usage with Doncic sidelined, something that translated to 50 fantasy points in each of the last two games. The DFS rationale for Porzingis is similar to his teammate, Brunson, who was mentioned earlier. The matchup vs. Boston isn’t great, but the possibility of more usage in a competitive game atmosphere should more than make up for it.
Also Consider: Davis Bertans, Draymond Green
CENTER
Ian Mahinmi - Washington (vs. Chicago)
Thomas Bryant, Rui Hachimura, and Moritz Wagner are all out for the Wizards tonight. That means Ian Mahinmi and Davis Bertans will soak up heavy minutes in the Washington frontcourt. Mahinmi has been unable to fully take advantage of the increased playing time over the last few games, but having Hachimura on the sidelines adds more potential. The same can be said for his matchup vs. Chicago, as the Bulls rank dead last in defensive efficiency to centers.
